I did not like that when I booked our flights I wasn't allowed to select our seats, and United subsequently assigned separated seats to my wife and me on all 4 flights of our outgoing and return trips. Only on our flight from Portland to Chicago and just before boarding, after we had voluntarily checked our carry-on bags, did United revise the seat assignments so we could be next to each other.

The plane is old and uncomfortable and we paid for “even more space.” I can’t imagine the regular seats on this plane. There was no wifi and the entertainment system had to be reset multiple times after which audio issues persisted and the crew was unable to keep resetting. They offered a $15 credit for use on a future JetBlue flight which was appreciated. The plane needs to be retired and a more comfortable plane should take its place. Overall, the crew was nice and the pilots did their best to give us a smooth ride even with known turbulence on the route.
