Pick up the Airport Express (East / West Line) of the Gautrain at the station located within the airport’s Central Terminal Building and travel to either the Marlboro or Sandton station where you can transfer to the North / South Line toward the Rosebank station. If you prefer to travel downtown by car, you can hire a taxi at the airport or arrange for a rideshare service such as Bolt or Uber. You’ll meet your driver just outside the arrivals area at OR Tambo. You can also rent a car at the airport – most major car rental services have a car rental desk inside the terminal. The car ride to downtown Johannesburg from the airport usually takes about 30 to 50 minutes, depending on traffic. When flying into Cape Town International Airport (CPT), you’ll arrive within the city limits, not far from the city center. Although no trains run from CPT to the city center, there are a few options for bus travel. Two popular bus options include the Citi Hopper, a private shuttle bus service that offers regularly scheduled door-to-door service routes from the airport, and the MiCiti public city buses. The #A01 MyCiti bus departs regularly from the airport’s Transportation Plaza and travels to the Civic Center bus stop in about 30 minutes. If you choose to take a taxi, it’s recommended you use Cape Town Airport’s official taxi service, Touch Down Taxis, to ensure safe service with appropriate fares. You can also arrange a ride with the Uber or Bolt rideshare services, or you can rent a car. All Cape Town, South Africa transit options depart from the Transportation Plaza, which is an easy walk from the Central Terminal via the underground pedestrian tunnels.
