Staff member who received the car on drop-off attempted to rip us off on refueling fees and fuel in spite of confirming the tank was full with me. This is clearly a scam, and I can give details if anyone wants to get in touch.

There was an unexpected fee of $100 which increased the price of the rental significantly Supposedly it is in the fine print that all rentals have the fee. I will not be booking with Avis or budget in the future.

Queuing time for car pick up in Capetown was terrible - 90 mins (60 mins standing outside in the hot sun) - only two desks open when there should have been 5 or 6 desks open to cope with the volume
It was fine. Picking the van up a bit frustrating but we managed.

What could have been better - the rental car broke down on the highway & roadside assistance took 2 hours to get a tow truck to us. What did I like - the roadside assistance support rep was very helpful & a replacement car was delivered to us a few hours after the first one broke down.
They gave me a ride back to my hotel after I returned the car....

Horrible business experience. They tried giving me a smaller car than the model I specifically reserved. Then they charged a fraudulent $660 to fix a crack in the windshield that I was not responsible for. I've quoted crack repairs/windscreen replacements in the same area and the quotes are 1/3 of that price. Europcar PE is fraudulent.

I have been charged $102.39 when I signed a contract for $81.81. More than $20 difference for no reason. I dropped the vehicle in time, did not do any damage to the vehicle at all and even I dropped the vehicle with more gas than when I picked it up (I picked it up with 350 km gas left in the tank and dropped it off with 450 km of gas left in the tank). I have video and picture evidence of this and I regard this situation as very unsatisfactory and unpleasant.
Thrifty said "they could not find my reservation" even though it was confirmed by them the day before. They were happy to give me a new booking at almost 3x my original booking.

Car was brand new but sadly when I gave the car back in Cape Town they said the deposit held will be released soon but when I got to Johannesburg to rent a new car they said no it will only be released in 14 days so they making interest money on my money laying there, and bet they won’t pay me the interest. So I had to put down a second huge deposit that will spoil my holiday. So I left and hired from another company. Not giving these crooks any more of my money

When I arrived they claimed they couldn't access my reservation because their "system had changed." They then quoted me a price that was double what I had gotten when I made my reservation. I went to another company instead because Thrifty refused to honor my reservation.
