There are several Amtrak stations in San Diego: the Santa Fe Depot and the Old Town Transportation Center. To get to the city center from the Santa Fe Depot, you just need to step outside. The Santa Fe Depot is located a few minutes by car from the downtown area of San Diego. You can either choose to rent a car or call a taxi or ridesharing service. If you would like to walk, it is just a short journey. The Old Town Transportation Center is a little further away. To get to downtown San Diego from here, you can take bus line 19 or bus line 30. These routes won't take long at all. Or, you can choose to call a cab, which will take just a short drive to downtown San Diego.
You can store your luggage at the Santa Fe Depot train station in San Diego, but there is no luggage storage service at the San Diego Old Town Transportation Center. Depending on how long you need to store your baggage, you can expect to pay affordable rates at the Santa Fe Depot. Bag storage service can also be purchased ahead of time if you are buying your San Diego train tickets in advance. You can store both your checked bags and your carry-on luggage if you so wish. If you are taking a train to San Diego Old Town Transportation Center and want to store your bags, it is best to look up a separate luggage storage service nearby as none is provided at the station itself.
