NS is the main train operator on the Amsterdam to Rotterdam route, and the company has two trains on this route: Intercity and Sprinter. Free Wi-Fi is provided on both these trains to facilitate fast and easy light web browsing for all passengers. It is difficult to use the free Wi-Fi provided on the train for heavier tasks, such as heavy downloads and streaming, due to the bandwidth limitations. Thalys also offers free on board Wi-Fi connectivity as a standard amenity regardless of the train ticket type that you decide on. Intercity and Thalys trains from Amsterdam to Rotterdam also have restrooms, while the Sprinter trains do not have restroom facilities for passengers.
Baggage policy on trains to Rotterdam from Amsterdam depend on the type of train booked. Intercity trains only allow passengers to take carry-on luggage on board that can be comfortably fitted in the storage spaces provided on the train, either on racks above the seats or on designated spaces between seats. Thalys trains allow passengers two check-in baggage items and one carry-on baggage to be stored in the overhead compartments on board. There is no weight limit to the baggage carried onto Thalys trains, and the only requirement is that you are able to carry them yourself. You are also allowed to carry a stroller if you’re traveling with a child at no extra cost. However, you are required to fold it and store it in one of the designated baggage spaces in your assigned carriage.
