POPULAR STATION | Rotterdam Centraal |
POPULAR TRAIN COMPANY | Thalys |
Most trains to Rotterdam arrive at Rotterdam Train Station, officially known as the Rotterdam Centraal Station. This newly-renovated station is not only home to Rotterdam trains, but also provides bus, tram, and metro service. Train passengers may wait in the waiting room or, for an additional fee, in the lounge next to the international ticket office. Lounge hours are generally Monday to Saturday from early morning to early evening. Inside the train station, there are dining options (cafes, fast-food, and fine dining), shops (convenience stores, flower shops), and even a library. Restrooms, luggage storage, and accessible facilities are also available. Opposite the main entrance are tourist information desks and ticket offices where you can buy Rotterdam train tickets and check timetables. Ticket offices are generally from very early in the morning to evening on Monday to Saturday and a little later in the morning to evening on Sunday. Alternatively, there are self-service ticket machines. Car parking and bike parking is available, as well as a Kiss & Ride drop off zone.
The main Rotterdam Train Station, called the Rotterdam Centraal Station, is conveniently located in downtown Rotterdam. There are plenty of nearby destinations that are walkable. That being said, if you want to explore more of downtown, there are a few options. You may rent a bicycle at the Rotterdam Centraal Station and ride it around central Rotterdam. It’s available in a shop near the underground bicycle parking. For public transport, you may take the Metro. Lines A, B, and C go east-west, and lines D and E cover north-south locations. The Metro lines provide regular service from very early in the morning to midnight most days. Alternatively, you may consider the RET buses, which go to many downtown locations on a regular basis. You may purchase a single-ticket at the Rotterdam Centraal Station or a Tourist Day Card which provides unlimited travel for one day. If you prefer private options, you may also hail a ride from your favorite ride-sharing app.
