A lot of people living in or traveling around Boca Raton do so with their cars or car rentals. There is a range of convenient car rental options available through momondo. Driving around the main downtown area is quite easy, and there is some traffic congestion just at the peak time near the university. You can also get around on the Palm Tran bus. The buses are very affordable, and half-price for students, seniors and disabled people. To stay somewhere close to the bus hub, consider Boca Raton hotels near the Town Center Mall. The mall itself is an upscale shopping center with lots of gift and food options, and it is in Downtown Boca Raton, within walking distance, or a short drive, to various golf courses.

Boca Raton is a small city that is divided into East Boca and West Boca. The east would be a good option for students and young travelers, as well as those looking for more affordable options, like the Bright and Light Modern Beachy Studio. The neighborhood has a university commons, the downtown area and a beach, and is a bit more lively and appropriate for those wanting to eat and drink out. The west side, however, is more for families and business or leisure travelers and can stay somewhere like the Boca Raton Marriot at Boca Center. This area features golf courses and some large malls. There are few hotels right near the beaches, due to development regulations, or right in the downtown area, but you can stay nearby.
Boca Raton is home to various beaches, parks, museums and shopping centers. Mizner Park is a shopping center with restaurants, apartments and social activities. It is located in East Boca and includes a museum and amphitheater. Depending on where you are staying, you can get a bus there, or if you are in the center, you can walk. From Mizner Park, you can also walk to South Beach Park and Red Reef Park, which are both calm beaches offering nice sunrise and sunset viewing. Red Reef has some man-made reefs where beginners can try snorkeling. Younger crowds enjoy Spanish River Beach. There is parking nearby, and lots of people walk their dogs in the area. For concerts, head to Mizner Park, or try the Performing Arts Auditorium, in the university.
For a night out, you’ll want to head out of the downtown area, to bars interspersed around it. Most bars can be found in East Boca Raton. There is little public transport late at night, so you’ll want to plan to take a taxi or have a designated driver. For food, you can get a lot of international, American and comfort food near South Beach Park. The center has fast-food chains and bistros, as well as restaurants aimed at families. Heading north towards Red Reef Park you’ll find some more low-key eateries. Hotels in Boca Raton tend to be clustered around the inlet or in West Boca.

In October, there is a free community street festival with food and art, called Meet Me on the Promenade. It is in the downtown area. Finally, in December you can attend the Holiday Boat Parade, where locals decorate palm trees and boats. You can enjoy the parade and fireworks from Red Reef or Silver Palm Parks.
