Electric car rentals in Newark, New Jersey

The line moved slowly and the attendant lacked clear communication

SUV was a bit older

Windshield had old stickers all over it

They took more money even though I paid everything in advance.

1 Drop off- No clear sign with "Budget car return". 2 Value- They debited my credit card with the 250 USD deposit after drop-off. Why? please check and let me know.

Had a confirmed reservation our flight was delayed and when I went to pick up the car, they had canceled it and wanted more money… Yet they charged me in full.

Loved the price, the car had no windshield wiper fluid, the brakes needed to be done and the wipers need to be replaced!!!

Absolutely nothing!!!! My flight from Cincinnati to Newark was cancelled on Monday and despite me phoning and alerting the 800 number of this when I arrived on Tuesday evening there was a massive long line for over an hour and they didn't honour the "DELAYED" contract and it was cancelled and I had to start all over again as a "WALK UP" and ended up paying TRIPLE the price - NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!!!!!!!!

Was at least 4 hour wait to get car. Would not allow us to come in building because line was too long. No communication of what was going on and not organized. Customer service is a thing of the past for Dollar at Newark Airport.

Kayak allows you to book a reservation with Dollar (and takes your money!) even when they have no cars. Beware! Just because you have a confirmation number does not mean they have a car for you! You have to call and verify with Dollar directly.

I didn't use Thrifty. I used Budget. There was a line of about 10-15 people, almost out the door or the building. When I finally get to the counter I was told they didn't have any cars left, so I would have to wait. After a short period they said they found a car for me. They didn't ask if I wanted insurance. The didn't ask if I wanted to fill the gas, or have them fill for a fee. They didn't ask if I wanted to use the transponder for tolls(which didn't work). They didn't tell me why the charge was $500 instead of $250 for a 2 day rental. I had to ask all those questions. I was given a receipt and told a parking spot number. The vehicle had significant roof damage and some dents/scratches to the front end. They never provided any instructions. They did not tell me I had to open the door on the toll transponder to use it. When I did open it, it didn't work. Budget might as well get rid of all the people they have working and set up a couple kiosks. It would be faster and more informative, as I felt like I was asking all the questions and doing all the work anyway.
