Kayak confirmation number didn’t match Alamo confirmation number, never got an email from Alamo confirming the reservation. Had to call their customer support to get that information, and had to re-enter my email address to get a confirmation via email. At Alamo, I chose the Skip the Counter option and expected to be able to pick up my rental by going straight to the car and to the exit booth. I was told by the kiosk personnel that we were good to do this, and once at the exit booth was told we needed a number that the counter or kiosk worker would provide. They proceeded to complete the pickup and rental agreement and ended up giving me a rental agreement for National Car Rentals for a person and car other than myself and the car I rented. Alamo contacted me via text and phone the following day asking if I picked up a car. I had to text them the VIN to complete the rental agreement. Overall, a big mess up on the part of Alamo.

Upon pickup at the enterprise counter, I originally did not have a reservation. I asked at the desk (at 130am) if they had availability and they did not. I then booked online and went back to the same counter to pick up my now available car. It was definitely frustrating that the counter was turning people away as sold out and I had to find my own vehicle online from the same provider. Drop off was very easy at Sarasota. Gage and Ernie were extremely helpful.

I pre booked my car but upon arrival the Credit card machine wouldn’t read my card for the deposit. The person at the desk wasn’t willing to be helpful. So I went to Avis and rented because that person was able to be helpful.

not great. We rented an electric small SUV that they gave to us not charged. They were unable to help us when we realized after driving 10 miles that the car battery was going to die. We went to the only gas stations with chargers and we happened to be at the only WaWa in the area that didn't have a charger. So we drove back to the airport with the charge so low it just said "Low" and didn't give mileage anymore, then had to pay the difference for a new car. The worst part was we were there to see family in the hospital and had a limited amount of time and missed visiting hours that day because we were dealing with the hertz mess. After my sister complained to the counter person she offered no apology and gave me some certificate for 40$ toward my next rental car with Hertz. Not gonna happen.

Pick up was all about upspending. Not comfortable Drop off in Punta Gorda was very unprofessional. Poor signage no worker dark unsafe and keydrop was as you left the lot. Should have been near cars as we had to go back and get keys

The key pick was a little confusing. The parking garage office said platinum members go inside, when I asked a Hertz employee where I get my keys she told me I had to go inside. After waiting 15 minutes, I was told the keys were in the vehicle.

Hands down one of the worst customer service in person pick ups, ever, the guys coffee and hi lk sipping it was more important than all else. Rep kept repeating himself like people are stupid. Was not there to help at all.

This is without question the worst rental car company. I showed up to pick up the vehicle and was asked for a copy of my utility bill. For the last 20 years I’ve flown 100k miles a year and rent cars frequently. Never in that time have I been asked for a utility bill as a requirement to rent a vehicle. To make matters worse, the guy at the desk couldn’t care less, took a personal call while I was talking to him, ignored my questions and then refused to work with me outright canceling the reservation and leaving me stranded.

TPA has a train from the car rental area to the terminal but Easirent is off property so you need to take a shuttle to/from the train stop. The check in was slow. Two people working for a crowded waiting area. The car needed a wash but more importantly it smelled like a mix of pee and smoke. It only had ~8k miles so it wasn’t old but it smelled. The price was right but I wouldn’t rent from them again.

Price on Kayak didn't include Collision Damage Waiver, which is, apparently, non-optional/ non-waivable unless you prove having other coverage. Which the car rental company didn't ask about or give the option to waive. Car smelled like cigarette smoke. Pickup process was slow/ long wait.

I had a copy of my NJ insurance card with me as a proof of insurance but it was not good enough. They wanted to see something to prove full coverage......so who walks around with their whole policy??? Would not rent to me.

car was badly damaged on the outside passenger door. Car was full of mud inside and on seats. Rental car representative said that the car was fine and that "little" mud was ok, so I had to take the car.

The process at the facility is not good. Our agent was wonderful but realize, they nickel and dime you for everything. Our final cost for a Midsize car was literally within 50 dollars of our additional rental of an SUV with Alamo. Online it was $400 cheaper — but once we got to the counter we were up sold a car (bc they advertised mini coopers as their economy cars online but gave something else), their toll policy is $25 every day it’s used + tolls or $11 day for the Rental period. It’s a money grab. But the inefficiency of their office was the worst part. The office is an old bank. Inside we were never greeted or told to sign in. There was at the first teller but no indication of why some people were sitting and others were in line. People walked in and were immediately helped while others were not. There was no uniform or name tag to identify who worked for the company… Added 75 minutes of nonsense to the start of our trip. The shuttle drivers were super personable and competent, as was our rental agent — they should be working at top tier companies! Overall, it was fine but it reminded me of why we rent from the top tier agencies at the airport — while the upfront cost looks daunting, there isn’t nickel and dime-ing along the way, we get a clean vehicle, and if there’s a problem we have 24 hour assistance. It’s worth the extra $50 for a Week.

Upon arrival in TPA we found the Advantage desk was closed and nearby car rental agencies said that Advantage had been closed for more than two months although we had received no notification. We called the phone number listed on our reservation only to be directed to a call center that could neither help us obtain a rental car with another agency nor assist us in any way. Advantage appears to be a scam and Kayak should not make any reservations with them.

Advantage never showed up at 7 a.m. at the desk in Tampa. Ace Rental took my reservation at 7. They got into Advantage's computer. The car's transmission started having problems half way through the drive from Tampa Airport to my destination in Ft. Myer's. I called Ace, they called back and asked if I wanted a tow truck to tow me back. I said no as the car somehow readjusted itself when I turned it off and restarted it. Then I continued on the highway, and the transmission started having trouble again. I could only go 40 in a 70 mph zone. It was dangerous. Advantage said I did not show up for my rental. I said yes, but Ace took it over. I was told that was not possible. It was. The check engine light turned on. I sat for 30 minutes on a road off of the highway. I was told people would call me. They did not. I drive 30 mph to get to my sister's house with noises under the car. I finally made it to my sister's house. Later that evening, a tow truck dropped off a different car and took that one. The man could barely drive the car up onto the truck. He has to back it up and gun it. What should have taken me 2 hrs and 10 minutes took 5.5 hours. I understand that cars have mechanical issues. But it was the lack of communication and failure to take responsibility by the staff that was the most troublesome. I am considering challenging the charge on the car with the company because of the personal danger I was in on the highway, and the stress/amount of time it took to get to Ft. Myers. Paula Coffee

The first car had a front end shake at 44 mph and I had to drive it back over the bridge. Very unsafe and scary!!!! Advantage should have sent someone to pick this car up from me. This could have become a serious liability. I was not offered anything for the inconvenience and safety. Very dissatisfied!
