On the wide-open prairie of eastern Wyoming, the Best Western Pioneer makes a friendly base in Lusk, Wyoming, a small frontier town along the old stagecoach roads of the high plains. Lusk keeps the Old West close. The Stagecoach Museum downtown preserves an original Cheyenne-to-Deadwood coach and the area's homestead history, and the summer Legend of Rawhide pageant reenacts a frontier tale with a cast of hundreds. The town also makes a launch point for a day trip north to the Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, and Devils Tower across the state line. Spacious rooms suit a restful night, free high-speed internet and a hot breakfast open the day, and a seasonal heated outdoor pool and complimentary cruiser bicycles round out the stay. A courtyard grill invites an easy barbecue under the big prairie sky after a day on the road. Far out on the open prairie, Lusk makes a genuine frontier base.
