The Boise-Nampa metropolitan area, also known as Treasure Valley, is served by Valley Regional Transit for its public transportation. Most bus routes converge in the downtown area, making this neighborhood a great option for hotels in Boise, such as Cabana Inn and Hilton Garden Inn Boise Downtown. The Budget Inn Boise in the West End neighborhood offers a cheaper hotel in Boise, not far from the city center on the northern side of the freeway, close to Boise Trolley Tours. There are also a number of cheap hotels in Boise in the Sunrise Rim neighborhood, right near the airport. These include Econo Lodge Boise and Motel 6 Boise. Boise is really big on cycling, so if you’re the outdoorsy type who’s into bike riding, then try out the Wine & Bike along the Boise Greenbelt, which extends all the way along the Boise River from the Willow Lane Athletic Complex and Veterans Memorial Park in the Sunset neighborhood, Quinn’s Pond in West End, to Kathryn Albertson Park, Ann Morrison Park and Julia Davis Park in the downtown area near the river and Boise State University. If you enjoy the arts, try out the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, which, despite its name, actually runs an assortment of entertainment throughout the year on an ongoing basis, ranging from Shakespeare to 50s doo-wop music to musical theater to murder mystery whodunnits. The outdoor theater is located on Warm Springs Avenue near The Mill District between the neighborhoods of Barber Valley and Riverland East.
The Idaho State Capitol in downtown Boise includes an impressive statue of George Washington, with information on historic trees planted by different US presidents such as Benjamin Harrison, Teddy Roosevelt and William Taft. There is also a full-scale replica of the Liberty Bell on-site. The Julia Davis Park, which is downtown right next to the Boise River, offers a host of tourist attractions close together, including the Boise Zoo, the Idaho State Museum, the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial and the Idaho Black History Museum.
