Where to stay in Boise

Boise is really big on cycling, so if you’re the outdoorsy type who’s into bike riding, then try out the Wine & Bike along the Boise Greenbelt, which extends all the way along the Boise River from the Willow Lane Athletic Complex and Veterans Memorial Park in the Sunset neighborhood, Quinn’s Pond in West End, to Kathryn Albertson Park, Ann Morrison Park and Julia Davis Park in the downtown area near the river and Boise State University. If you enjoy the arts, try out the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, which, despite its name, actually runs an assortment of entertainment throughout the year on an ongoing basis, ranging from Shakespeare to 50s doo-wop music to musical theater to murder mystery whodunnits. The outdoor theater is located on Warm Springs Avenue near The Mill District between the neighborhoods of Barber Valley and Riverland East.

Valley Regional Transit runs buses to the shopping center.

Race to Robie Creek is a half marathon, hosted every April to raise funds for charity. The race, labeled as the toughest in the north-west, starts at Fort Boise (right next to the Boise Little Theater and near the Idaho State Capitol), goes over the Rocky Canyon, and finishes at Robie Creek campground. The Boise Music Festival is a massive music event held every summer, usually in June, and has been hosted at Ann Morrison Park in the downtown area.
