Van Rentals in Commerce City, Colorado

No signage about where to go for the pickup. Then waited 35 mins for the shuttle. Finally gave up and cancelled

They only have one shuttle van driver, so if you miss the van, it could be 45+ minutes before the next one. They have short hours: 8-4 weekdays, 8-noon weekends. The after hours drop off procedure is fairly complicated, and costs an extra $20. Also, the car had a lot of damage on it when I picked it up, the most dented up rental car I have ever rented, but it drove fine.

The van itself was nice but the service at the airport was extremely slow. More problematic, though, is the fact that they had us driving a van with expired plates. We rented this van in July 2023 and the plates expired in Dec 2022. We noticed this about 1/2 way through the rental -- thankfully we were not pulled over for this infraction but the headache that could have been involved if we had been pulled over would have been quite frustrating. The computer/audio system in the van was also set to French so we couldn't read it or use it. When I reported both of these issues upon returning the van, the managers weren't receptive (just stared at me, didn't apologize, didn't say they'd ensure these issues were fixed for the next customer, etc.).

Customer service was excellent and car was perfect

Very friendly staff and I didn't get the feeling they were trying to scam me with up charges and fees. Felt easy going with the wear and tear of the car use. Best rates in the area at the time of my trip. Only downside is you still get charged a fee for being within airport property, but there is no shuttle service to and from the airport so worst of both worlds. However, the rates were still the best with this additional fee

I thought I was picking up at DIA but had to Uber to a remote location. Same thing on drop off. The car was dirty. Hadn’t been washed in some. The heater fogged up the windshield

Cancelled before pickup as written in cancellation policy but was charged $50

Avis reps at the Denver Airport rude. I went to the wrong location. I went there and entered the preferred location and the guy there was rude. I said “hi, how are you?” to which he responded “mmm-hm”. What? I then asked I if I was at the right location and he said if I wasn’t a preferred member then my reservation was going to me on the other building. I had to get out to find this other building. Once I got there, I waited about 5 minutes which it was not bad. I gave this other rep my confirmation and he was not able to find it. Gave my name and he told me I was in the wrong location but he could still help me and move my reservation to the location I was in. I was very thankful for that but then we go to the almost end of the transaction and I wasn’t paying attention and my wife said why are we being charged $1018. I asked the rep and he said because of the taxes and taxes are higher at the airport. I was going to pay like $328 at the other place so now we were going to pay close to $700 extra for taxes and going to the wrong location. We went back and forth about and he was finally able to get it to like $418 or something like that. My wife signed and he was not able to print the receipt because their printer was broken. I asked for a copy to be emailed to me. I gave him my email and we verified it. He said he sent it but I never got it. I didn’t think to much of it, I just wanted to get out so we went outside to pick up our car. When we got there, the car was so dirty from the inside and the outside. Had coffee spilled all over the place and just dirty. By that time we had already spent 2 hours trying to get a car. I went back and asked to cancel my reservation. I explained to another rep what happened and he apologized about the car being dirty. I also let him know I didn’t have the receipt because the other rep was supposed to email to me since the printer was broken but I never got it. He want able to find me at first and I let him know my reservation was moved from the original location to the one I was in per the other rep. He went back to talk to the rep that helped me with my reservation and he came over and asked what was wrong so the other rep explained that I wanted to cancel because the car was dirty and I didn’t have the receipt since I never got it from him. He asked if I didn’t want another car and I said no, just a refund. Then they decided to talk to each other right in front of me about why I wanted to canceled like if I wasn’t present. When I tried telling them again to just refund me, both reps were looking at me talking about me and completely ignoring me. The one rep helping me at that point had to asked the other rep who helped me before like 3 times if he should cancel it or not. He did this in front of me. He had a piece of paper which the other rep apparently had to sign to cancel it. He came back and said he took care of everything and it should be all cancelled and I should see the refund in a few days. A charge of $1018 is pending on my account and this happened on Saturday March 5th. Mind you I was polite the entire time. I will never ever rent from Avis again. Worse customer service ever and their vehicles are not clean.

My car which was reserved was cancelled last minute.

Our issue is with Kayak- requested airport rentals but found out, at the airport, that the car we reserved was at another location in the city. Don’t know if the issue is Kayak or Priceline (who we apparently booked through)- there was know way for me to discern this. Terrible

We booked through Price line and paid with Affirm. Upon arrival Hertz would not rent the car due to the card number not matching in the system for Affirm. We ended up wasting 2 hours to which the only solution given was to cancel and rebook.

I got charged and I never got the rental, I was charged a “service” charge. I will probably NOT ever rent from Hertz again. Why should I, it was a bad experience.
