I made reservations for a compact car. When I get there to pick it up it was not returned yet. He offered me a suburban as a “free upgrade”. I’m driving 6 hours, so that actually not free. I’ll pay more than I had planned in gas. I decided to wait the 45 minutes for the car to be returned. I go back to Avis ready for my compact car, but now there an error that the car can’t be routed in the direction in going. I ended up with a small SUV. I still spent more gas than I wanted, but I had to take it because there were no other options. The guy who help me was nice.

This reservation was a great learning lesson for me. I was not aware that my reservation would be cancelled because I was late and hadn't called to let them know. I arrived to find out that they had no cars available for my one way trip to Nashville airport so had to inconvenience my family who have 3 small children with a one hour trip each way from Bowling Green. They had marked my reservation as a "no show." The employee was very friendly and waited on me after finishing his training of another employee. He explained that each location has different policies so one should be aware of the policies at the location they are renting from. So....always call the location you are renting from and let them know if you cannot arrive on time.
