I had to do a last minute reservation here after having a nightmare experience with another company - Hertz really won me over as a customer and most of it has to do with their all-star employee, Ahmed! He made sure to list all the rental options and add-ons (typical rental agent stuff) but was not pushy at all and was very transparent with answering all the questions I had regarding some add-ons. Ahmed mentioned possible upgrades to my reservation which I declined, the CDW insurance - which I declined and he did not get pushy or upset about it, just made sure my credit card had the rental coverage and then made sure I had personal injury insurance which is required in CA which I did have since I have my own car insurance. The car was a 2023 Hyundai which was very nice (unfortunately the light interior (rear seat) was already stained by a previous renter but apart from that I was VERY HAPPY!

Booked for pickup at LAX but the reservation somehow showed another location and for only one of the two days I prepaid for. The counter agent offered a smaller car for triple the prepaid price. I had to cancel the bait and switch

The Chevy Bolt was a major hassle. Having an electric car without a charger as a rental is a very bad idea. I was told it was easy to charge and could use a "fast charge" station to do this. Even in Los Angeles this is not easy to do. I missed 2 appointments while trying to find a place to charge. I ended up in a mall walking around with my wife for an hour while the car was charging only to find out that after an hour it had only added 20 more miles to the car. I was able to find a fast charge but every one else is too- we had to wait 30 minutes just to use the station and then the "fast charge" took an hour to charge up to full. Never again will I rent an electric car or even have the desire to own one.

I have never been treated so well at a rental car place. The gal that helped us was so kind and bubbly. We accidentally rented the car somewhere else and she was able to fix everything, match the price and get us on our way.

Seemed short staffed the day I picked up. It took over an hour to get my car. But the staff is always exceptional. I appreciate their warmth and smiles even under stressed conditions. The sales agent forced me to upgrade the car saying that the car I had rented was no longer available and I would have to wait for who knows how long unless I upgraded. There was an entire line behind me that would also have to wait for cars unless they upgraded? The woman next to me I later found out got a small car like she rented from another agent. The whole experience was sketch….lots of angry people leaving.

Car was fine. Rental process on Kayak was fine. Drop off was fine. At the pick-up, I declined - declined - declined and said yes to NO ADDED FEES and yet there was still over 50% added fees above my agreement from Kayak and Avis. Took almost half an hour to get the bill back to what it was supposed to be. Although the manager was very cordial, he still acted like it was some kind of one-time “favor” to charge me what I actually agreed to in the first place.

The line at the pickup was excruciatingly long and the car we reserved was not available on our arrival. However, the staff was very nice, the actual process was swift and we were upgraded to a more luxurious vehicle at no extra cost.

They took forever!!!! I have never booked with them because of the line I see everytime I get into LA but I just happened to land at 1am and thought it wouldn't be busy but we had to wait 2 hours for a car... ridiculous.

I recently picked up my car and had a terrible customer service experience. The receptionist didn't acknowledge me, didn’t give me any information and the attendants at the exit gate were rude and dismissive. They refused to document existing scratches on the car and told me to take pictures instead. Overall, the lack of politeness and poor service left a lot to be desired. This was in LA location, the drop off in San Diego was fine and fast.

When I made the rental online from Kayak, my receipt clearly stated that the total charges for the rental would be ~$600CAD and I had also purchased insurance through Allianz for an additional $75. When I went to pick up the rental I was charged an additional $506.00USD in other fees and more insurance (apparently the insurance that was rented through Kayak was not comprehensive as stated on the website.) I was informed that I would be reimbursed $200USD when the rental car was returned. To my dismay, when I returned the rental I was charged AGAIN an additonal $506USD plus another $100USD “cleaning fee”. Completely unsatisfied and I will be contacting my credit card company to dispute these repeat charges.

The pick up line was an hour long. We saw associates standing around and not looking to get the lines down. There wasn't a car walk around for damage at pick up. The windshield was cracked and we told the lady at the both who let us out. She said she would note it. She didn't and they tried to blame the windshield on me when I dropped off. Additionally, the price was changed on me from when I booked online. They almost doubled it. When I asked about it the attitude was take it or leave it. I will never rent with Thrifty/Dollar/Budget again.

Waited two hours in line to pick up the car at LAX. This is not acceptable. I then found out on return of the car at SFO that the staff member who attended to me at LAX had sold me false information about the toll pass. Tried to speak to someone at dollar about this at SFO but was told to send customer service an email. Just very poor service with dollar. My first time and most likely last time renting with them.
