We waited in a freezing parking garage for the one attendant 30 minutes before he showed up. Long line of people behind us too. I ordered an SUV but was given a 2 wheel drive hatchback and they didn't have any 4WDs at any price. Drove to the ski resort despite my better judgement and somehow lived to tell the tale.
Rental clerk was amazing and went way beyond his job responsibilities. Found us an all well drive vehicle when few available and educated us on drop off options. He helped make our Christmas

One thing that was very disappointing happened to me. On the third day, I noticed that the engine light is on. It was one afternoon and I called Thrifty right away. After several attempts, I noticed that it was out of working hours and nobody can answer me. I was frustrated and stressed. Why the rental company does not do a complete check-up before delivering a car to the customer? The day after, I called again and finally I could talk to an agent who helped me to check something on the car and when it was not resolved, she opened a case number and asked me to go back to Vancouver airport to replace the car. This whole thing caused lots of frustration for me, plus waste of my valuable vacation time, only because the car rental company employees had not checked the car before delivering it to me.

Took almost 1 hour to pick up our car at the counter. Toddler seat didn't come with instructions on how to put in the car. Drop off procedure was a tad problematic: a) too far from main terminal leave a lot of time to catch the shuttle bus to main terminal and b) Drop off box location not clearly stated inside the terminal- had to ask for help.

Car was very clean. Staff had no interest whatsoever. I had to go to another desk as no National staff were there. Very poor.
Once we found Avis within the Vancouver airport everything went smooth. The car was clean, ran well, and did what we needed it to do, get us from A to B. Drop off was easy as we were at the airport at 5am and there was no traffic or people.
