There were hidden fees, extra charge if you don’t buy the insurance from them ! 8$ per day + the amount that you see on Kayak

On the whole, it was a negative experience. The fuel tank wasn't full, the place was understaffed, and so check-in took a long time. Drop off was chaotic and the car needed maintenance. On the other hand, the shuttle service to the Newark Airport was good, but the drop off/pick up location is with the hotels, not where the other rental cars are located. Also, ACE subcontracts with Drivo, so clients are subjected to Drivo policies and rules.

They did not have a car ready. Would have had to wait 2 hours. I heard a gentleman say he had been there 3.5 hours. Got a car someplace else. The workers wee great, professional and kept their cool. Not having a car ready was the issue.

All went well according to our plan with pick up and drop off with friendly customer service, and I’m very pleased with the staffs.

While Payless advertise a 100% smoke-free fleet rental car had definitely been smoked in. I tried to clear the air every time I got in it losing a can of febreze but could never overcome the smoking stench. Additionally, the car had numerous dings and the transmission made noise whenever it was in gear. The car definitely had mechanical, cosmetic, and smoking odor problems.

Good experience, everything was handled efficiently and on time The shuttle was ready to pick up to and from airport. The car we got was very basic so at times it struggled to drive uphill but we made it.

The overall was experience was terrible. The price quoted for the rental was correct. They quoted me $16.88/ per day for insurance but charged me more than $70.00/ day. The contract is all in Spanish, so it is hard to determine what the charge is. I found out when I check my card statement. I immediately went to the office in Merida to resolve it but was told they (1) did not understand English well enough, and (2) they could not do anything about it. The car was high milage, the sides and rear of the car were scratched, the interior seating was badly stained and dirty. they said they had no better vehicle available. I will not do business with Payless ever again. I also question the value of using Kayak in the future. Note, I insure to two late model vehicles for about the same amount over 6 month period then they charged for 15 days. This should be a crime.

Rude staff at desk

Hour and a half wait in line at pick up, received a 4 x 4 truck instead of the reserved economy car, required maintenance light was on, tires were bald, but I had no difficulties, and the vehicle was clean. Will not go with budget again.

I wasn’t use to just dropping the car off and go without having someone there to verify the condition of the car, that the keys are in the car and to print me a receipt. I believe if they are going to do things this way they should have an automated announcement or signage stating the change.

No one at the desk to pick up the car and very little instructions on how to do the pick up online.

The pickup and drop off was quick and flawless. The employees were extremely professional and courteous. However the ban could have been cleaned better.

the price of the rental was a little steep.Needed the car for less then 24 hours and paid 237.I think.Was pricey.

-The car was not in good shape, brakes were screaming and there were messages of overdue maintenance. -The check in agent was gaslighting and pushy. -The drop-off location had policies that were incompatible with the pick-up location (almost like two different companies).

I like that pickup and dropoff was clise to the terminal I was flying out of.

Car was dirty and had a 1/4 tank of gas. Drop off process wasn't explained. I had to figure it out when I got back.

They cancelled our reservation at the last minute, significantly impacting our travel plans. Poor customer service.

Absolutely awful. The car rental place was closed when I went to pick up my car and I was stranded. It was truly one of the most horrible experiences ever and who ever heard of a car rental being closed at 6 pm?
