Volkswagen car rentals in Portland

The overall was experience was terrible. The price quoted for the rental was correct. They quoted me $16.88/ per day for insurance but charged me more than $70.00/ day. The contract is all in Spanish, so it is hard to determine what the charge is. I found out when I check my card statement. I immediately went to the office in Merida to resolve it but was told they (1) did not understand English well enough, and (2) they could not do anything about it. The car was high milage, the sides and rear of the car were scratched, the interior seating was badly stained and dirty. they said they had no better vehicle available. I will not do business with Payless ever again. I also question the value of using Kayak in the future. Note, I insure to two late model vehicles for about the same amount over 6 month period then they charged for 15 days. This should be a crime.

The price is very good but it takes a long time to deliver the car

Kayak sold me an insurance policy that Payless said was worthless and would not honor it unless I made a $3000.00 us dollar deposit with them. I feel Kayak should have known this and not pushed their insurance. I also feel I should have been alerted to the price of insurance at Payless ($775.00)us.Eric

Better maintenance on vehicle needed. Wipers needed replacement and vehicle should be rented in cleaner condition . Especially where it rains and snows so much. Other than vehicle was as advertised.

Wanted a Cadillac but they gave me a Beemer instead. It was a great Car. Smooth and comfortable...not to mention looked sporty and luxurious! I've rented from several other companies and Alamo always makes my rental experience incredible and amazing!

Everything was great. Easy check in and return. Car in great shape and clean.

We never got the chance to rent the car due to flight cancellation

Only had one vehicle available after I made a reservation for a different type of vehicle didn’t offer a discount.

Dollar customer service person way over charged me. He did not even look at my reservation from Orbits. He wrote a new contract and refused to give me the price on my reservation. It took hours of phonecalls on my vacation to get the price fixed. I will NEVER use them again

Fast, easy service. Better experience than I’ve had at any other car rental company. I have no complaints.

they entered the wrong drop off destination ,when dropping off the car they tried charging me double of the agreement in portland

The staff were helpful and when I mentioned the car I originally rented had no functioning front turn signals they gave me a nicer car w/o hesitation. The nicer car however was not very clean. There was an artificial fingernail in one of the backseat door compartments and a large rock under the front passenger seat. Other than that I was very pleased with the overall experience.

Had car problems during the rental period that they did a good job of resolving.

Reservations vastly underestimate actual charges. Vehicle was dirty inside and out, so i switched to another vehicle that was dirty outside and smelly inside. Charges added for late return of vehicle, due only to the Avis desk being closed during return time. Google maps indicated this one-hour closed period (12pm-1pm for lunch), although Avis still accepts return times during this hour. After waiting 45 minutes for the clerk's arrival, the vehicle will be late, and an extra day's rental rate is charged. Avis, a "budget" car rental company, charges as much as blue-chip rental companies through hidden charges and fees, misinforming customers and scamming for late returns. Car rental companies with better vehicles, service and prices APPEAR more expensive while browsing for rates, but Avis, with an inferior product, will squeeze even more money out of the customer in dishonest ways.

I had a reservation, waited 2 hours, rep at desk ignored the reservation and started new transaction. Don't know if I double paid yet.

Overall good. However, there is a noticeable upsell at the PDX Thrifty counter, and it is also a little bit of a shady upsell (putting add-ons on and hoping customers don’t notice). This is not my experience alone, as it happened to another customer (a friend) the same day.

A bit of a wait, a little under staffed. Relatively good price and minivan worked out great for our group

Price was very good. Car was a good car for my time in the area. Car was very dirty and had scratches on the right door. I took a photo on my phone, and wrote down on the form regarding scratches, and was told I could drop it off before or after renting the car. I went to do it before I left, and the line was so long that people were pushed back outside the very small office in which 15 people were now ahead of me. Decided to drop it off when I returned the car, which I did.

Weekly rate quoted in reservation not honored during check in. Three phone calls have not resolved the issue.

Great, friendly customer service. I received a free upgrade when there weren't any cars remaining in my class.

They worked through a crazy time to get us the type of car we needed to continue our trip in unpredictable weather.

When I showed up to get the car I booked, they had rented them all out, and just told me I was out of luck. Worst customer service experience I've had in a very long time.
