I did not have a good customer service experience. Hertz did not tell me that the car would not be available at the airport. An hour before my pick up time I had called and the agent told me that I had a 24 h grace period. However, when I got there there was no car and the agent wanted to give another vehicle at 287 a day, which was 200 dollars more than what I had spent for the total 2 day reservation. In addition, Hertz send me back to the third party which send me back to Hertz, and no one was able to help me. I am calling my bank to cancel the transaction.

Having to pick up the car at a different office (not the airport) was a hassle. Going through Herz directly was nearly twice the cost, so I went with Kayak, not noticing that it was because it was at a different location. Being able to switch locations would have been better.

This location is not at the airport cost $30 Lyft to get there!! They called us at the airport as we landed and said if we didnt' get there in the next 10 min, they would give away our car. Then only one person working, we waited outside with another couple that seemed to be waiting for our car! The car had a broken key for opening the trunk. cost was alot also, so no value

When I reserved the car it was not clear to me that it was offsite from the airport. I had to pay $100 to take Uber back and forth to Portland International Airport.

The third party booking website didn’t pass on important booking info so there was no call to confirm, despite Hertz telling me that they called all their days customers - not me. I’m a gold member - no car at Hertz. Ended up with the tiniest match box car that I paid mid size for - didn’t fit 3 suitcases. Had to freight bags. Will never use Kayak or Hertz again.

We reserved a mini van and when I went to pick it up, the only one available was dirty and didn’t have a full tank of gas. Thankfully another mini van came onto the lot before we left which was much cleaner and had a full tank of gas. We got that one which made the deal much better.

Personnels should not always apologize for being new in the job because customers don’t care. He should not make it as an excuse for poor service. I reserved for a sedan standard but got 1 option for kia soul which we didnt like at all.

The truck smelled like the last users did nothing but smoke marijuana cinstantly for thousands of miles, and it was very unclean overall. I had to clean all the glass, wipe down surfaces, and vacuum.

First car they tried to rent me had a huge gash in one of the tires. Second car they gave me got a flat tire the first day I had it, in normal driving conditions. Best part? No spare tire in the car so I had to wait THREE HOURS on the side of a random road for a tow truck to come get it, then had to go to another Avis to get a replacement car. When I got there the people who worked there had no idea I was coming or needed a car. So they gave me a dirty (not cleaned since the previous renter had it) shitty Mazda that got 22 miles to the gallon and had a sticky accelerator. I will never get a car from avis ever again.

Location was good. Staff was friendly although a bit challenged. At pickup, no one was in the rental office until one and a half hours after supposed to open. We had to wait that whole time and then wait another half hour for the others who were waiting ahead of us for the office to open. Car was old and not very clean but ran fine and was moderately comfortable. Did not get a midsize car, as ordered and charged for. Only two of us and could barely fit our luggage. Would think twice before renting here again.

Dirtiest car I have ever rented, had to take it through car wash myself and am still waiting for the refund on that. Had to clean windows inside by myself as well. Horrible experience, will not rent from Avis again

In Portland at the pick up they were understaffed and the man could handle it but with barely had any time for customer service. He was short, he had me doing some of the stuff alone as far as checking the car over, no time for questions and really seemed to just want you out the door. He even hit a pole with a truck he was pulling around. He needs help!

The car was nice. Check in was slow, slow. Turning in car in Lewiston was a shot in the dark. Fortunately the Avis clerk helped us. Tried to change the reservation and that was like talking to a clerk in India with very little information at hand.

We purposely reserved a car for a long trip with 4 people. We got an SUV that was built for off road and smaller and less comfortable than what we reserved. The car was fairly dirty and sticky inside and smelled of cigarette smoke for several days. I have had similar experiences with Budget in the past, and had sworn them off, but they were the only option this time. I need to compare the details of our reservation, but it seems we were. charged more than our quote on Kayak.

The car was excellent to drive on the road and I appreciated the company upgrading us for free. However, the service was lacking hospitality and after returning the car I found several other locations who do not charge extra fees for things like turning 25 in 8 weeks.
