Absolutely nothing. They refused to honor my reservation during a high-demand weekend.

Well, everything. This was one of the most distasteful business transactions and customer service disasters I've experienced. They wouldn't honor my reservation because I was using a Mexican national ID (issued by the Government of Mexico) for diplomats. This ID is issued and used just as any other Mexican national ID - there is no distinction, but the very unhelpful Alamo office refused to accept it. They demanded a passport. It was the exact same situation of Alamo in Mexico demanding a Mexican citizen present a passport in lieu of national IDs, which would be illegal. Nor did Alamo agree to transfer the reservation to others in my travelling party. The attendant, named Paulina, demanded that we make an entirely new reservation online, which equated to almost a 100 percent price mark up off my original reservation. I will never use another Alamo franchise again.

Customer service was Good and helpful that’s for sure. The Car alarm system shut the car off on Saturday at 10 am and we didn’t get a replacement till Sunday around noon or after. Apparently some system malfunction from satellite security. They accommodated by taking two days off from car rental and allowed me to return gas at half a tank. However, it did effect our vacation plans for those two days as I had to make other arrangements to travel. Luckily for me I was able to leave the vehicle in a safe spot and move the car into an area that it didn’t affect the home owners. It affected my Family Plans and Traveling trips for those Days. I didn’t want to complain to that specific dealer as I knew they couldn’t do much else for me. However I expect AVIS or Kayak to do right by making this right.

Marcos was fantastic. I had so many questions and was pretty leery, but he did what we needed - car picked up early and insurance clearly explained. No funny business here.

They cheat you by manipulating the exchange rate! When my credit card company billed me (at the accurate exchange rate), it showed a bill about $60 higher than what they quoted. They set up your rate in USD, then tell you that’s how much you’re paying. Then they convert to pesos at a much higher USD value per peso which leads to a higher number of pesos, and then when your credit card company charges you at the accurate daily rate, your USD charge is much higher. It’s so shady, and they know they’re doing it. My vehicle was also dirty and had a right turn signal that didn’t work the whole trip.

Despite having received a confirmation email when arrived I was told there were no cars available and should not trust a third party. I was left in a very difficult situation, as I had reservations that needed the transportation. Ended up having to book a taxi to drive us for 3 hours and missing multiple stops we had planned during our holidays.. Really made what was supposed to be a good roadtrip a nightmare

Woke up at 5am to have a full day travelling around Mexico only to get to the location and they say there are no cars. Thrifty blame the booking site for not speaking with them before confirming. Very very poor!

We booked the car, travelled the pick up point to get the car and they didn't have it. They said we had to then go to the airport to pick up and they may not have one either. In the end we went next door to Avis who went above and beyond to help us.
