The site is not at the airport and it takes forever to get to via cab or Uber (practically nonexistent in Des Moines). Pay the extra cost to get it at the airport and not this site. The people are nice but it was a nightmare after 40 hours of travel.

Initially I was given a car that smelled strongly of marijuana. I mentioned it to the Enterprise employee and she agreed the smell was strong. After another minute of her finishing paperwork and me noticing there was an indicator that one of the tires was low, I finally said: Is there seriously not another car here that doesn't smell? Maybe one that has air in all the tires? She said we'd have to talk to the manager. So we did. He had no problem moving me to the other car. So, why didn't she make it right in the first place?

Representative was very nice however, the car had a tire with a moderate leak (I had to add air twice in less than 24 hours), had no windshield washer fluid and windshield wipers were in dire need of replacing. I returned the car as soon as I could and didn’t accept a replacement car offered even though I had another 4 days I needed a vehicle.

I booked a full size SUV through car rentals.com on May 1 for our trip June 23-July 3. I continued to check with the local Avis because that was my pick up location. I was told that if someone extends their rental I may not have one and pre paid customers are priority. Couple days before the trip Avis told me they had a Ford Explorer for me but my reservation clearly stated full size SUV and had a picture of a full size SUV on the confirmation. I ended up getting a full size SUV through Enterprise but it cost me quite a bit more. I am now working with car rentals.com to get reimbursed for the difference I paid. I most likely won't use Avis again and probably not a third party site. Enterprise was great to work with and put me in what I needed and got me on the road!
