- budget said they didn’t have my reservation on file because I made it 24 hours ago - they said they’ll do a direct deal with me - they charged me $76 / day instead of $37 as agreed per my Kayak booking - they charged me extra for insurance (the Kayak price didn’t mention this ?)

The location of the office is wrong on all GPS apps, so it took us almost an hour to find. The number we called from the email confirm couldn’t find our reservation so couldn’t verify that they were the right location. When we got there, we had to wait 25 minutes for the person in front of us to get their car. Then when we got to the front of the line they said they didn’t have our reservation. We made it that morning and they said it takes hours to get to their system. So they spent 30 minutes calling budgets help number. Then when they confirmed it- they said I had to pay a minimum of $60/day for insurance or put down a $2,500USD deposit plus $8/day to track the vehicle. I reserved the vehicle until 7pm, and when I said I would be back around 5 or 6 they said they close at 4, and we had to keep the car for the night. If we wanted to park it in their garage for the night it would be $15/hour. It took about an hour and fifteen minutes from the time we walked in the door at budget to the time we got the car. When we returned the car that took another 25 minutes and they couldn’t figure out how to give me back the money they placed on hold my card at time of reservation. I am still waiting for that $250 to be returned to my card.

The location listed on the website was not accurate. When we entered the address on google maps it took us to a nonexistent store front. When I tried calling the store, I was on hold for 15 minutes without an answer. Ultimately, we decided to forgo this reservation and pick a different car rental company

They didn’t find the reservation. Also, they told me that if they could find it, it will be a $35,000 USD deposit. Which is a straight-up lie. Completely unprofessional and lazy.

What a scam. I spent an hour on research. Received confirmation email for decent deal. After travelling for an hour to then pick up car, despite the email confirmation the desk said there was no reservation. Doubled the price and had to suck it up as I was there in the office with no transport. Beware.

The car could be a little bigger. Their version of the full-size is really a standard or midsize here in the U.S. They also try to sell you on high insurance which can double or triple the price of insurance. Be aware of that. Pick the basic LDW for Mexico and ask for nothing else.

We were extorted by the guys in the office when we picked up the car. They did not honor the pre-paid voucher and required that we paid them more money for the car we reserved. The contract they used was for a less expensive rental. I am certain they pocketed the difference. Also, we received the car with only enough fuel to get to a gas station. Practiced scammers.

Typical big rental company scam. Offer low rental rate and rip you off with the insurance costs when you pick up the vehicle. I had proof of CDW coverage from my credit card bank but they had some reason it wasn't acceptable. Final price would have been 3 times the original quote. I went to a local company and got a better car and saved myself US$600.00 for the 4 week rental.

We arrived on time at the Playa del Carmen location. We were told " No Car". What? we have a confirmation!! How about 2 small cars instead of the Van. No Cars!!! Have a nice vacation. Ricardo no help whatsoever. No cars, No empathy, no help, Just no car.
