Convertible Car Rentals in San José del Cabo, Mexico

Be warned about their insurance policy! I had to pay quite a lot, additionally, for full coverage that was unexpected. If you book through kayak, make sure you understand their policies before you arrive.

Car was old and poorly maintained, with check engine light and brake lights constantly warning on imminent issues. Rate "negotiations" for insurance coverage was demeaning and unacceptable for a major brand

They upgraded my reservation to a bigger car without any extra cost.

Drop off was a breeze. Location and shuttle was great too. It would be so helpful if the company would just inform people of the extra charges ahead of time so they don’t have so many angry people at pick up feeing like they are getting lied to. There’s mandatory collision and liability insurance that are additional daily fees and you can only get them through their company. There’s daily extra driver fees, roadside, and they didn’t even give us a car that was comparable to the one we thought we were getting. Explaining all this ahead of time so there aren’t any surprises upon arrival would be so much better for customers. The “total” upon reserving online is never the case. It’s really another $500 on top of that. Just say so instead having hidden fees.

They sent us an email DURING my flight to los cabos, telling me that due to “reasons beyond their control” they had to cancel my rental service. No substitute option or nothing

Did not have my car ready or available. Told me it wouldn’t be available until the next day.

Our flight was delayed so instead of picking up the car at noon, we arrived at 1:30, and were informed that our car had been “given away” and there were no cars for us to rent. The dude basically just shrugged and said there was nothing he could do to help when we asked what we were supposed to do without a car. We then had to scramble to rent with another company (and of course, same day reservations are more expensive.) We provided our flight info on the rental reservation, so it was easy to see that we were delayed. (Also, 90 minutes late seems like an extremely short window to assume someone isn’t picking up their rental regardless.) The whole thing felt like some kind of weird scam because the other rental car vendors at the airport descended on us and tried to get us to rent a car at an insane rate (one woman quote me $150 per day. I went online and got a reservation for $150 for 4 days.) it was super frustrating and unnecessarily stressful. I will definitely never rent from Sixt ever again, and will actively encourage friends and family to avoid them. Still trying to figure out how to get the insurance refunded..

Charged more than agreed. Gave away my car and barely a discount for lower car.

Was given a compact car after booking a mid-size. Pick-up was a disaster as the location of the office was incorrect.
