Reserved a car at a specific location online to get there and be told they don’t have any cars and to wait. Another person walks in and they say they have no cars and won’t be getting any. I was flabbergasted that I was literally told something different 5 minutes earlier. We were then directed to another location across town in hopes of getting a car there.

This reservation was canceled because they overbooked. When I arrived at the location, around 20 people were in line and had been there for over an hour waiting for cars. The answer I received was, “we will have all cars by the end of the day.” I canceled this reservation and quickly headed to the train station. When I got to my destination, I booked through National. They are just way more reliable. I will not pick Avis again.

Good and nice car, comfortable. But it was delivered to me with 3/4 gas, and that was an issue when I returned. Also, the return location closed before the arrival time entered during the reservation, I had to find another location and wasted a lot of time to return the car.

I arrived at 9:45 AM to pick up the car that I booked for 10:00 AM and didn't get the keys until about noon. There was one employee covering both Avis and Budget at the downtown DC location, and he was working really hard and being very efficient, but he simply couldn't keep up. The gas tank in the car was not full, and, after driving about 100 easy miles, the oil light turned on shortly followed by the braking system light and several warnings about the lane departure prevention and adaptive cruise control systems. The agent at the CHO airport location was not remotely concerned about the state of the vehicle when I called and asked for advice. As a result of the late start and the slow, limping conclusion, I had to extend my time with the car and pay extra. I don't plan to rent through this service, Budget, or Avis ever again.

I never got to rent a car with Thrifty. My booking was for collection in Washington DC in a central city location, when I got there a security guard informed me the Thrifty office had been closed for over a year. I called the help desk and the customer service agent on the phone said “our system says that office is still open, but I can see on google maps it shows ‘Permanently closed’… maybe go to the airport and see if they can help?” Which is pretty shocking from a corporate help desk. When I arrived at the airport they couldn’t help me and couldn’t hire me a car. So I went to Dollar instead. Would not recommend.
