Toyota car rentals in Monterrey

Terrible, only one person working and never was told that a $250 deposit will be taken (which is fine). Tried to use my own insurance and they put a deposit of another $1000. They charge $55 for insurance per day if you use theirs. Tried to extend for one day and was told that they will take the $250 deposit as a fee for an extra day plus an additional charge. Overall terrible

They wanted additional money, fraudulent practices! I am requesting a refund!

Inform that the price you pay does not include insurance and that is a mandatory thing for Mexico. This added $350!!!! to our rental costs

Car brakes made a loud noise. Very uncofortable, but I was too far away to go back and exchange the car. Office hours start at 7:00 so, if you have an early flight on your way out, you may have some troubles returning the car.

They didn’t even have the car we had booked or any other SUV whatsoever. We had to go to the counters of every car rental company at the airport to find a car last minute and we have 3 little children. Unacceptable.

Pick-up took too long. There were unexpected (negative) surprises such as a costly insurance necessary to rent. Ultimately paid twice what I expected. Return was swift but they wanted to charge for gas (luckily I had a picture of the gas reading at pick-up).

The Avis email I got confirming my reservation indicated I would need a driver’s license and credit card at pickup (in Mexico). However, the Avis employee demanded a passport as well, which I did not have with me and did not want to go back to our hotel to get (1 hour roundtrip). He just shrugged at me with a blank expression as I showed him the email. As it turns out, the Avis Mexico website does mention the need for a passport, but everything is in Spanish. After I insisted that the employee should call his manager, they let me take the car upon “learning” I was a regular Avis customer, even though I had provided my Avis Wizard number in the Kayak reservation. The 30-minute delay led to us missing out on one of the sightseeing attractions we had wanted to see. Avis, you should train your employees to be the “Can-do” type, not the “Sorry, there’s nothing I can do” type.
