I am not a fan of Hertz, but our experiences in other countries with Hertz were positive. Not this one, unfortunately! (I don't understand why it always happens in Scotland, which I love so much!) We snatched a great deal on Expedia. That was in theory. When we got to Hertz, we purchased the basic insurance (in the end) but were added taxes that were never mentioned in the initial booking. In the end, the situation got settled; most of the extra amount was returned to us, but no one called us or updated us on the situation, even though they promised - we had to investigate on our own (and contact Expedia, too). Pluses? The car was a great one! So, 1 star for the employees who didn't know what they were doing and 5 stars for those who solved our case.

Luckily a manager was able to help. But I was uncharged over $100 dollar and told I had to include their insurance.. After doing a little digging I learned that was not true and luckily had the fees removed

It was an overall bad experience. I booked a car 6 weeks prior to the day of pickup. When I went to the front desk to go over paperwork, that was when they said that they didn’t have the car that I asked for & that I had to pick a new vehicle. The gentleman explained that I had to pay a $1000 collateral on top of the new vehicle & my new total went up to $1141. With my original vehicle, it was probably gonna be around $250 total. I had a friend with me that we changed the name under & she only paid around $400 for being out of state. On top of that, customer service was bad & no people skills were shown. Overall, most likely my one & o lot time using Fox

Exceptionally Excellent service . They were so kind & took care of us by picking us up from the boat terminal . & then dropped us back too to the boat terminal. So welcoming . After a long flight that’s what you need. A sense of security at a new island . His wife told me about some local restaurants. I can keep on going in praising them . The only place to rent your car while on the island .

They did not have a car ready. Would have had to wait 2 hours. I heard a gentleman say he had been there 3.5 hours. Got a car someplace else. The workers wee great, professional and kept their cool. Not having a car ready was the issue.

First off, Tesla was not available when i went to pick up so they gave me an IONIQ Electric Vehicle. Contract said FULL charge and when i turned it on it only had 17% charge on it. i went back to advise AVIS they gave me another car MUSTANG MACH E. again contract said FULL charge but only had 75%. very frustrating and time consuming.

I reserved a car, and the next morning, when I went to pick it up so that I could drive my family out of state for my mother’s funeral service, the manager said they didn’t have any cars and that the system should not have let me reserve the day before. My heart dropped as we were screwed over without a car. I was beyond myself about this worst experience. I will not rent from Hertz again.
