Subaru car rentals in Christchurch

Communicate with staff was fluid. Car was clean and in good condition. Pick up location was not clear but was able to get in touch with staff easily to adjust. Drop off to airport was well organized, punctual. Advice: bring a copy of your own insurance policy, otherwise they will want/pressure you to buy from them. Overall satisfied.

Great car, swift service

Used the vehicle to cross from Akaroa, Christchurch to Hokitika via the Lewis Pass - with a couple of overnight stops on the way. Car was excellent - cruise control is great on the long stretches of straight road. Vehicle comfortable to sit and good to drive. We took the full tank of petrol option at $2.59 per litre and it was a great idea. Benefit all round. Possibly not the cheapest option but certainly the best for a great and safe trip.

Trouble frree vehicle nice and roomy for all our luggage. The staff at both pickup and drop off were very helpful and friendly. Would definitely use this firm again.

Horrific customer service, truely terrible

I did not want a battery car the technology is not supported by infrastructure outside the city area I was travelling long distances to achieve what I wanted to do in the 5 days There was NO charging facility in Akaroa so could not tour to the areas I wanted to visit There was no instruction given on the app required to login to a charger once I found one that was comparable with the fitting on the car Charging took up to 3.5 hrs as the power supply in the rural areas could not support more than a 25 kw charger Only one charger at some locations so if someone was there before you you had to wait until they finished so lost more time and had to amend my travel plan again as overall I estimate I spent 20 plus hours either charging car or waiting in line for a charger I will never ever use one of these stupid electric vehicles again as you have no flexibility to travel where you want to how you want to when you want to The stupid vehicle ruined my holiday and left me very angry with your company and European over the whole fiasco especially given that Europcar help line was run from The Phillipines by people with poor English skills and absolutely no idea of the conditions in New Zealand The whole concept of using these vehicles for tourist who are freedom touting in a country with limited support infrastructure is stupid On one Charing station once I finally got it to work the estimated charging time was 3.4 hours to 80 percent it was a bloody joke

Staff were great. Sadly we chose a vehicle that wasn't really suited to our needs. Our mistake, not Hertz.

The car smelled like vomit when we picked it up which was concerning, we didn’t have any other options and had to get moving though. The more the sun hit the car the worse the smell got which made the trip difficult
