Toyota car rentals in Barcelona

I was told they accept debit cards. But instead of putting a hold on my card for a deposit they hit me with expensive insurance. Also I never got the car I ordered. They said it was an upgrade to a larger car. But I ended up spending €240 on petrol and petrol is expensive in Greece. So overall it was an expensive 5 days

When I rented the car I thought I put a $125 deposit on the car for any damages, because I knew I had not paid for the extra insurance. I had planned to use my credit card rental insurance coverage. While driving our first car, we had a blowout with one tire. The second car they gave us had no working air conditioning. The third car was great. When returning the car and resolving our account, I was informed that the $125 was the smart coverage insurance, so there would be no charge for the tire replacement. Supposedly, the tire replacement costs 300 euros. Since it was only $125, I did not press it further.

Car price was low but insurance offered on the spot was x5 of the car price. On return, the petrol station is right next to the rental facility. parking was situated on the beat rocky ground and it was difficult to take the luggage out of there. I returned the car 4 days ago and still didn’t receive my deposit back. I tried calling but no option allowed me to speak with the office.

overall it was a good experience. 2 issues: 1 - the very expensive upgrade to a gas car vs electric, I dont see how this makes sense 2 - the car I rented had a very strong and unpleasant cigarette smell

their customer service at the airport sucks, and when u return the car, they will find a way to charge you for anything that they find wrong

Horrible, the agent at pick up insisted we upgrade to an electric car, which absolutely sucked. Drive horrible. Got the car form hours after we picked it up. At drop off was accused of damaging the hub cap by a recently stoned dude and even though we insisted on talking with management was told basically too bad you owe us. Had to pay 100+€ for damage we did not create.

I did not even re t the car & lost money as they charged the price of the rental in “partial insurance.” All of this is unethical sales practices designed around fine print clause—disingenuous sales. I was robbed in the end.

Easy pick up and return, car was brand new, had less than 2K on it, great service

You have to add on your site clearly that passports required for the pick up. We didn't had our passports with us, we had only driving licence. Attitude at reception was poor. With two small kids, We had to travel back to our hotel (spend another 50€ on taxes) to get the passport. Bad experience. Never again!

Scam car company. Told them to cancel my reservation and refund and they refused.

Staff is helpful, but the pricing is a bit high now.

I would’ve liked a little bit more flexibility on the pick up time (plus or minus an hour from target time)

They close the location for 3 hours between 1pm-4pm and don’t notify you in regards to this nonsense. I canceled and booked at Sixt instead.

It was really good! Pricey because I had chosen a hybrid for a long trip. But it was worth it!

Here's my mailing just from now with VIP cars, you can understand how was it: When trying to call Enterprise from the airport and from the train (never answers on the site) I clearly mentioned I will arrive few minutes after 13:00pm. Never told you 1.5h, don't know where this came from. 1. They moved to bizarre place arround the atation, into hotel, on a roof, around the roof, walking on the road with no pavement or how to roll the suitcases. For sure mature people would find it very difficult to arrive there and handle this difficult way, not to mention handicapped people, so many stairs with suitcases. 2. No one mentioned any directions to this bizarre place. No sign where to turn or any guidance. It felt like ESCAPE ROOM. Find Enterprise car rental. This alone cost us 20 minutes, and also because we were sharp and physically in shape! 3. I repeat myself again, why they never answered to me? To you? To mails? No phone call was answered, why? Why haven't they called us??? 4. Give me a break! Completing the papers, takes more than 15 minutes, no one was there completing any papers with anyone and handing them our car. CAR WAS NEVER THERE AT FIRST PLACE. 5. Many people came after us, and most of them if not all, had arguing with the representatives since no car was handed to them either. A Spanish couple stood there on the sun getting mad by rhetoric answers and going with no car. The site has problem with cars not related specifically to our case. 6. I would be more tolerant if anyone there would have been more helpful, with real intentions, or admitting at least they never had the car, or trying to upgrade with some extra money - anything, it would felt better. The representatives, to my opinion, was already fed by so many customers complaints from the last week of the holidays, and could barely handle more issues, like when we arrive, hence answers become rhetoric and automatic with zero understanding or trying to help. Then I called from the site to you, 30 minutes with a lady, she tried to help, she was smart and tried seeking a solution. However, you're not the car rental on the site, what can you do if they don't cooperate with you, and you have no influence! Then, she clearly said she will refund me. Listen to the phone conversation. I am saying again, we already had hotels booked and lost time, needed to take extra night in Barcelona, we didn't expect to stay, it was highly expensive due to last minute on holidays, plus taxis back and forth. Plus wasting full day on searching for another car. This all will be issued as a law procedure by my family lawyer. For sure Enterprise service would be known to anyone I know. So, don't tell me about 2 info's, since I know exactly what hell of a day was that, and it's implications.

It took about 45 minutes to get the car and the line was not very long. I experienced this all over Spain so not sure it's an Avis-specific issue, but just better not to be in a huge rush. It was frustrating to just be waiting and waiting and another renter lost his temper and started screaming in the office near the cars. But I found the Avis staff friendly, if not super quick and attentive. The car was great, the wifi add on was CLUTCH for me since my phone service wasn't working there. Way better than just a GPS add on, I was able to keep the wifi phone with me when I walked around too and the service worked really well the whole time. Rental car center was pretty easy to find. I had a hard time figuring out the fuel tank to refill on the Fiat 500 and wish there were easier instructions for that but I gave myself plenty of time and nice people helped me. I'd rent again from Avis.

More agents. 2.5 hour wait. Canceled

The Avis counter we went to closes between 1:00 and 4:00 pm, which is important to know. The car they gave me was a manual when I had ordered an automatic. When I turned it on, it leapt forward 2 ft-pretty dangerous. When we ran back to tell them before they closed for the afternoon, they insisted it was an automatic. In the end I got a really nice car, probably an upgrade, since they had no other automatics in that size. So the final outcome was a nice car, but a stressful way to start out the long drive.
