Passengers arriving on trains to Quebec City mainly get off at the central station, called Gare du Palais. This châteauesque station is located northwest of Old Quebec, the traditional city center of Quebec City. To get to Old Quebec from the Gare du Palais, travelers disembarking Quebec City trains can either take a stroll into town or ride the Quebec City public transit. The walk to town is not very far, and just a few blocks south of the station, you’ll begin to notice the architecture and streets of the Old Quebec district. If you want to waste no time and get to the city center faster than by foot, there is public transit that stops just across the park in front of the Gare du Palais station. There, you can take the 11 bus to the Place d’Armes square in the heart of Old Quebec in just a few minutes.
After booking your Quebec City train tickets to Gare du Palais, you’ll find that the train station offers a few amenities for those travelers with reduced mobility, making the station and its trains more accessible. A wheelchair-adaptable lift is available for you when you arrive at the station, and there are wheelchairs that you can borrow to assist anyone who may need them to get off the train and around the station. Platforms for both the train lines and the station entrance are accessible for passengers with reduced mobility or passengers traveling in a wheelchair. You may request assistance at the station; furthermore, there’s a special service that helps travelers get all the way out to the curbside drop-off point in front of the station.
