In the historic centre of Tirano, the Hotel Centrale, BW Signature Collection, Tirano, Italy, fills a converted old grocery store across three floors of period charm in the Valtellina, with a small wellness and beauty corner of its own. Refined rooms and a warm welcome make a comfortable alpine base, with the high mountains and the Swiss border close by. The cobbled old streets and cafes gather right outside. A small wellness corner adds a place to unwind after a day in the mountains. Tirano is the Italian terminus of the Bernina Express on the Bernina Railway, part of the UNESCO-listed Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina Landscapes, a feat of engineering whose little red train climbs past glaciers and the famous Brusio Spiral Viaduct over the Alps to St. Moritz, the Basilica of Madonna di Tirano standing close by with its frescoed interior, and the vineyards and apple orchards of the Valtellina filling the valley around. Bormio's ski slopes and thermal baths lie up the valley toward the Stelvio. CIR code: 014066-ALB-00009, CIN code: IT014066A1M2H4TKI7
