I was quoted one price when getting the car and no one was there when we returned it to get a receipt. Just had to leave and 'hope' all worked out. Then the bill comes and it is more than $40 over what I was quoted. Because no one was there to give me a receipt (when I could have asked questions and discussed what was going on and why the difference), it is leading to my having to make phone calls to 800 numbers to try to resolve this discrepancy. Not happy about that.

I got a last minute reservation with Alamo after Budget didn’t have the car that I reserved available. Alamo let me exchange my car halfway through the rental for a better fit. No surprises with the price or service. All of the reps I interacted with were helpful and friendly.

I requested a compact car, but none were available. The minivani was assigned was so complicated and confusing that on several occasions I feared I would cause an accident. I am hoping to receive a refund for what turned out to be a very stressful experience.

I showed up at 8 am to get the car I reserved and it was not available. My options were either to drive a truck (not optimal for a long road trip), pay $200 more for a different car, or wait for one to become available. The clerk also didn't want to give me a certain car to take one way. It was a pretty frustrating experience overall considering I made a reservation far in advance.

Despite my reservation which I made 3-4 days before, there was no premium car available with Budget and they provided me with a mini-van instead. Further, the mini-van provided to me was all damaged from every side. Further, the employee there refused to give me a rental on my temporary Ohio driver's license based on which every other rental gives the car. I also presented my India's drivers license and to harass me more, they asked me for the physical passport (she did not accept event the electronic copy of my passport) and I had to take Uber forth and back to my place just to get my passport. She did not even have the courtesy to reserve that damaged mini-van for me and told me that she cannot promise me the car on my return. If Budget doesn't give rentals on temporary licenses then they should specify that while making the bookings and should also specify what all documents they need at the rental pick-up rather than harassing customers like this. This is definitely the worst experience of rental I ever had.

Found qeeq (via kayak) not transparent as at the time of reservation it wasn’t clear insurance wasn’t included, so the apparently interesting rate basically ended up not interesting at all. Not good. This experience was a nightmare. I arrived at my designated time for the rental pick up to be greeted by an hour-long line to speak with a counter agent. At the counter, the agent informed that there was a shortage of cars and that I would have to wait an additional 1.5-2 hours. The agent further said that my reserved SUV would not be available and that Thrifty would provide an electric car instead. When I asked the agent whether Thrifty planned to compensate me for the delay inconvenience and for the unavailability of my car, they told me it was not their fault but rather that of renters who returned their cars late. That response is unacceptable. In my desperation to leave Washington D.C. ( I was due in NYC that evening), however, I opted for the electric car. This was a terrible mistake. I will spare readers the inconvenience of driving an electric car for long distances. Suffice to say, while on the highway returning from a New England trip, the car’s battery suddenly dissipated. The next thing I knew, I was on the side of the road with a dead battery. It was around 6:30pm and quickly getting dark, so I called Thrifty roadside assistance. Thrifty had me on hold for nearly 20 minutes and my cell phone’s battery died. Eventually, the state police arrived, and I was instructed to use a contracted tow service. Two hundred and fifty dollars and a missed flight later (not to mention 4 hours of delay), I was finally back on the road. Because I missed my flight in Boston, I had to drive down to New York to catch the next flight. I am at a loss for words. This experience has soured me to Thrifty and to electric cars in general. I hope someone will think twice before using either for a rental experience if customer service does not improve.

Calvin at the rental desk was the rudest person I have ever experienced in any customer relation position. We arrived at 0655, and as we proceeded to enter the lined off area to the counter. We were rudely yelled at by Calvin, who told us he was closed and asked in a very rude manner, why we would enter. He continued to speak belittling to us, and would not let us answer that there was no sign telling us to not enter and we apologized. He continually shamed my husband and I. As we stood there, he continued to work on the computer after 7am, which was the time it was to open. He belittled and shamed another woman who did the exact same thing as my husband and I did, entering the area. At 7:10, he still did not open the line area and walked off. We and 3 other customers stood there. Finally he arrived back at 07:17 and opened the line. he got back on his computer, took his time, putting on his rubber gloves. At 07:20, he finally took his first customer, rudely telling her to stand in front of her and not be near the counter. I have photos documenting his time of behaviour. He should immediatley be taken off the front desk and examined and counseled. He obviously has anger management issues and should be replaced. A terrrible experience to start our day.

Thrifty was renting cars without having them available. Despite having a car reserved, they were forcing people to wait in excess of 2 hours with no seating available in the building. This practice should not even be legal and I would discourage anyone from reserving a car as they do not honor that reservation. Furthermore, despite having all of my information after making the reservation, the staff asks all of the same questions.

When I arrived and waited in line to check in, I was told to take a seat as it would be awhile before a car was ready ! 30 minutes later I ended up with a Hyundai and had to go to a gas station every single day and put air in the drivers side rear tire …… when I told the employee upon returning the car they were disinterested and could care less …. Never again will I rent from Thrifty !

Dollar rented vehicles while not having inventory. One hour wait to get to the counter only to be told we’d have to wait 30 minutes to 2 hours for a vehicle because they didn’t have any left on site. After 2.5 hours, we finally received a vehicle.

The car was not cleaned well - there were footprints on the inside of the windshield and trail mix scattered around the backseat. Good thing I’m not allergic to nuts! Worse than that was the pickup experience. After standing in line for 55 minutes to reach the checkin counter, it was another 40 minutes before they called me to get the car (I guess I should be thankful it was faster than the 90 minutes they told me I would have to wait!). Yes, I picked up on a Friday afternoon in the summer, but the curt desk agent told me they have this backlog every day…. Which means something is wrong with their system!

The staff at both locations were very nice. Wouldn’t change a thing about either. The vehicle was in bad shape. Smelled unpleasant and had what looked like dog hair all over it. A few broken things inside. Handles to compartments were missing and therefore rendered the compartment useless. It got us from point A to B, but at that price, I’d expect a clean and fully operational vehicle.

We picked up at Airport but we didn't fly in and it was a little tricky getting to the office when we were driving in. Once inside we went to the National Desk but there was no one there, the issue was that there was a window open and it had a coat on the chair so it looked like someone had just stepped away. We waited, knocked and called out but no one came. Finally a worker passing by said we needed to go to the Alamo window and that did work fine But there should have been some sign at the National desk telling us to do that. The rest of our experiences were very good.
