Toyota car rentals in Reykjavik

Waited for the shuttle at viscount station for 40minutes. Walking would be 20mins. Was forced to buy additional insurance for 12$ a day and paid more than the original cost of renting the car.

They didn’t accept the insurance i booked through kayak so I lost $40.

Read the fine print before booking online. Local residents only get limited kilometers even though it stats unlimited while booking. If your insurance does not cover rental car ,expect to pay the insurance while picking up the car. The staff was helpful and forthcoming thats the only positive i could take from my experience.

Our flight was delayed. I emailed them to tell them and to ask that they not give our car away. They said they wouldn't yet when we showed up, they gave our car away and charged us hundreds more for another. I'm contacting Visa today.

Horrible service

Mileage options were not great and upcharges for vehicles were a bit expensive but overall good value.

It’s sucked. The guy was rude at check in, we got charged double from what I was quoted. AND I still, 4 days after dropping off, don’t have a finalized bill.

I would never rent a car from Dollar in Iceland again. I would urge others not to rent from them either. First, it was extremely difficult to find their location. Unlike most of the other car rental companies, they do not have an office inside the airport. It took extra time to find out that their office requires a shuttle that is 10 mins away. However, the worst part is that there is no Dollar return at the airport either. We spent 20 mins looking for Dollar's return. When we finally found it, we realized their office was closed, which meant there was no shuttle back to the airport. My husband and 2 other families had to split an Uber to get back to the airport. Dollar never explained how to return the car nor that the office wouldn't be open early in the morning for returns. It was a huge hassle! I will not rent from Dollar again.

The folks at the registration desks were super kind and helpful. When the original car we rented in Reykjavik had engine troubles along our journey - they provided a replacement and upgraded car for us in Akuyreri. Hassle free pick-ups and drop-offs.

Our attendant was very nice. We had a few large bags , she left us at the airport. Which was just a 2’ drive but prob 10’ walk. Thank you!

The car worked well, it was a last minute switch from picking up at downtown Reykjavik to the Keflavik airport…the young man at the counter made it easy.

Out of the way location, we returned the car after the office was closed and had a really hard time getting a ride back to our cruise ship. Had to walk 10 minutes to a nearby hotel to catch a taxi.

Driving the Tesla was a great experience and well worth it. My experience would have been even better if I known that a shuttle from my hotel was available. I had to pay for a taxi.
