Very good|Jul 2022

The pickup experience was not great. Set to pickup at 1600 and got in the suv at 1830. The drop off experience was much better and the gut in charge, Shed was excellent.

It’s exceptionally frustrating to book a reservation, speak to someone on-site, and pay to Uber to pick-up the vehicle only to be told one is not available that day. Such a waste of time. It’s more fault of the rental company than Kayak, however Kayak need to be aware of such issues if they are going to continue partnering with those companies.

It would have been better if they had a car. I received a text about 10 minutes after I booked saying they were overbooked and would not be able to honor the reservation. I had to scramble pretty hard and though I don't blame Hertz for 'the way things work' in the rental car business, but I am not a fan of 'the way things work' in the rental car business. Surely there is a way to better integrate inventory and availability even through a 3rd party site. There are other industries that seem to be able to do this (Ticketmaster, for example). Why do we normalize overbooking in airlines and rental cars?

Honestly, getting a hold of a human to talk to on the phone was a challenge. Other than that it was ok.

When I arrived at the location, I was told there were no cars available and the reservation shouldn’t have been taken. I ended up having to find another rental at the last minute. Plus, I have to get Priceline to refund what I’d paid.

I booked through Kayak and got confirmation but the local Hertz didn’t have any cars. We had to take a taxi for over three hours to reach our destination.

Car was dirty, inside smelled like someone smoked in it, had to buy an air freshener and wiper fluid. Pick up and drop off was pretty easy though and fast. Was given a small suv over the requested economy size car, which was a bit more for my gas expenses.

There could have been someone at the counter for me to pick up my reserved rental. This was very stressful and I ended up paying almost twice as much to rent another car from a different company. Poor communication and very frustrating.
