In the lively Dresden Neustadt, the Best Western Macrander Hotel Dresden, Dresden, Germany, is a modern hotel well placed for the old town, station, airport and motorway, with friendly, air-conditioned rooms, free Wi-Fi, a grab-and-go diner for sandwiches and coffee, and a fuller breakfast and dinner at the hotel next door. Right outside lie the bars and cafes of the Neustadt, with the grand old town and the Elbe a short walk or tram ride away. The Hechtviertel quarter buzzes close by. Dresden is the grand old jewel of Saxony, a city of domes and palaces on the River Elbe long known as Florence on the Elbe. Across the river the rebuilt Frauenkirche, the Zwinger palace and the Semper Opera gather in a magnificent old town, while the Neustadt counters with street art, independent shops and a famously lively bar scene. Paddle steamers and riverside meadows line the Elbe through the city.
