Took out the middle seat and it was dirty underneath. Otherwise, van was pretty much perfect.
I had rented a car for 2 weeks at a rate of $1097. They didn't have the car I rented and put me in a Nissan economy car. One day into the rental, the car developed mechanical problems while parked in the parking lot at my Camden Maine hotel - flashing headlights and rear lights, but totally dead. Enterprise was singularly unhelpful and took no responsibility for getting me another car. This was a business trip and I was left totally in the lurch. They picked up the car a day later and proceeded to charge me $357.24 for a two-day rental at full cost. Though they have now promised to refund half of the $357.24, I have yet to see that refund on my credit card. I will never rent from Enterprise again, and probably will never rent a car through Kayak either, as I was totally left to come up with an alternative. Cannot believe the appalling lack of customer service.

Ease of booking car online and price was fair. We were able to drop offf car and walk back to hotel within 15 minutes.
The customer service rep did not pressure at all to upgrade the car or purchase unnecessary insurance.

Alamo just needs to do better in Portland, ME. The staff are doing their best with what they’ve got. When we walked into the rental car area, there was a sea of people. Once we discovered that the Alamo line wrapped around and was near the door to the garage, we were shocked and frustrated. I even went to the Hertz line because there were very few people but they were out of cars. I overheard, I’m assuming a manager, explain to someone that because of the size of the garage, they can only move so many cars in at a time. My suggested solution, and this really is the only way to fix this, Alamo changes the rental availability template for the Portland airport. It’s as easy as that. That counter and facility in no way can handle that volume of business. We were to meet friends in Bar Harbor so they graciously offered to come get us. At that point, we were even afraid that there might not be a car (yes, we had a reservation, but I had lost any faith in how this was going to work out). While we were waiting, (2 +hr drive from Bar Harbor), I decided to go look at the line again. By this time, 2 hours had lapsed. A man who was maybe 8 people behind us in line, was 4 from the counter. So, if we had stayed in that line, our was it time would have been around 2hrs 45 minutes. This is beyond reasonable.

our experience of recent was not the first time. We would not have used Alamo had we had a bad experience. before.. However, this time we returned the vehicle, I realized I was missing a small bag. . I called right away, the person I spoke with did find my bag. . He confirmed where to send it, .said he had mine plus a lot of others to prepare for delivery. . I did not receive it within a 2 week time frame.. So I called to see if it had been sent.. This time, I spoke with Paul (I don't recall the first person's name.. but very nice) the middle of last week.. he found it and would send it out right away.. I got it today. I am not complaining, I am only responding to this experience because I am completely satisfied with the service I received from both gentlemen.. This first person, because I can understand how many items he has to deal with daily, and the second person did as he promised. Good people...Thanks Will definitely call Alamo again!

The woman who checked us in was both friendly, informative and delightful!
In spite of Kayak or Hotwire sending me a reservation number when I got to the Portland airport National could not find my reservation and would not rent me a car. I have already sent a blistering email to one of you sucky third parties about this awful experience and I am astonished you keep asking me about it. Truly one of the WORST experiences I have ever had while traveling. Do not contact me again for any reason!!!!!

First car had less than half a tank of gas, and multiple warning lights (tire pressure low, needs oil change…). Second car was dirty- something spilled in back seat, previous renter papers, something spilled on dash-white…At over $100 a day, for a week, nobody checks these cars out?

Arriving to Portland on Saturday around noon, the wait till I got my car was over an hour or more. The return was excellent.
Although expensive, the car was excellent and we enjoyed driving it. The pickup and delivery experience was also excellent, and we appreciated that.

Clean, nice car. Had called Avis in advance to request GPS and was told no problem. Then when I arrived they said they didn’t have it. Didn’t try to help problem-solve or anything and I had a 6 hrs drive in unfamiliar territory ahead of me. If I had known in advance I would have looked up on maps ahead of time.

Drop off was easy....just drop off the keys. BUT the quote I was given is not what the final bill I got via email. So today I get to call customer service to woke that out...good luck right? Car was filthy...which we couldn't tell in the dark parking garage. Upholstry was stained...dashboard and inside windows dirty. I really don't think it was cleaned after it was used, YUCK!!! We took pictures when we picked it up to make sure we weren't held responsible for it.
Car wasn’t super clean- which is fine we have definitely rented worse. Clerk wasn’t happy that we booked 3rd party and discussed how it impact their job to make it harder by having to enter information provided by renter- then Tried to add on 1200 worth of insurance- wasn’t happy when I declined and argued about it. Girl that was there when we returned was very monotone and irritated with myself and previous customer

I reserved a specific vehicle and they couldn't find the keys. Changed to a van. Van was dirty, had scuffs and dents. Not what would have been preferred for a high end customer visit. Drop off...... Did not get a receipt at drop off and was just told to leave the keys in the vehicle.

Confusing, stressful and costly experience. Unable to speak directly to rental office when calling for information. Always have to speak with foreign person who does not understand English or convey information to customer that is not accurate or confusing. Customer unable to secure need agreement for car rental. Information passed on to customer was not correct and caused customer much anxiety.
