JFK Budget RAC was exhibit A of how a business with no manager operates. Walked into the location for a 12 noon reservation and there was total chaos- 50 to 60 people waiting in line ahead of us. 4 or 5 desk agents totally overwhelmed. People who were already checked in were waiting in a separate area for their cars. After nearly 2 hours of waiting in the queue, I checked in. Went to get my car only to find a person already sitting in the car trying to claim the car because they were waiting. I resolved that with the assistance of a lot attendant. While I was waiting in the queue my wife went around to othe car rental companies and saw none of them had this problem. Clearly Budget needs to get a new leader for JFK.

Very very busy office so had to wait an hour after a long flight to even be served. The lady in charge was quite rude and didn’t help the situation. Overall bad customer experience in picking the car up.

They said I needed to return the vehicle with a full tank but when I got it the tank was 3/4 full. Didn't explain at all how the pre-paid tolls work. The car was okay but overall pretty bad service.

The car seemed a bit old or poorly maintained, it made a lot of noise and shook violently every time I hit the brakes. But otherwise everything was seamless, I had 0 trouble receiving and returning the car. Avis folks are fast and efficient.

Picking up the car was a nightmare. We specifically asked for a Chevy Suburban due to the amount of luggage and people we had. We needed Captains chairs in 2nd row and the larger trunk space. The counter agent refused to give us one, despite me being an Avis member and pointing out the available one on the lot. When we went outside we met Dan who works the lot outside. He was AMAZING! I pointed out that there was a Suburban that was perfect, he checked it and quickly changed our car to that Suburban. When we tried to leave the lot, the agent inside had assigned that car to another COUPLE (just after us) (not the 6 people we had). We couldn't leave, and found Dan who went inside to sort out the issue. The agent was planning to give them the Suburban because they had requested a black car. Our friend Dan reminded the agent the our car was not black but green. He finalised the paperwork again from inside and finally we were able to leave. Without Dan the trip would have been much more difficult due to the layout of the Expedition. What I didn't understand is why a couple would get priority over us simply because they requested a specific colour when we had 6 people and needed a specific type of car. Thexagent at the counter was downright rude, but Dan SAVED THE DAY!!! GIVE THAT MAN A RAISE!

Gave our expected car away to someone else and replaced it with a long-in-the-tooth sedan. No floor mats, scratches all over, stunk of air freshener. Not tragic but pickup staff could have been more organized & cordial dealing with the issue. Drop-off staff was great.

Despite renting the vehicle for only 3 days, the company placed a very large hold of $500 on my card, even though I already paid for two types of insurance coverage in advance. In addition to that, ACE charged an extra $44 for toll services, which I consider excessive and unjustified. What makes the situation worse is that the $500 hold is still not released up to this moment, causing unnecessary inconvenience and financial burden during my trip. This behavior feels unfair and exploits customers, and I respectfully request your support to investigate this matter and ensure that the held amount is released immediately, and that the extra charges are reviewed and refunded if appropriate

I didn’t take the car I request at kayak app that I wanna pick up the car from JFK airport and drop it off in Baltimore MD . I arrived to the ACE spot and they say that they didn’t have the option to pickup from that spot and dropped off at deferent spot. Which is not going to work with me . So I didn’t pick it up. How if i request something like this show any company didn’t have this option?????!!!!!!! I lose allot of time and money and allot of stress me and my kids

I can safely say I will never attempt to rent from Dollar again. In the midst of our calamity with a cancelled flight and lost luggage at JFK International Airport after traveling 3000 miles, Dollar failed miserably by allowing us to schedule a car rental on line. After feeling the relief of that rental transaction we come to find out upon arriving at the Dollar rental desk that not only your folks didn’t have any one-way rentals but didn’t have any rentals for us at all. Talk about the left hand not talking to the right hand. Additionally, your customer service rep was condescending with no sympathy for our plight. The rental was placed through Hotwire.

Terrible experience. The car wasn’t ready when it was supposed to be. Their cleaners went home or something. Had to wait 2 hours for the car. Then they overcharged me on tax for the rental. Then they started the rental before I even took possession of the car. Then when I tried to return it there wasn’t anyone there and they added 2 hours into my rental even though they are the ones who didn’t have anyone out there to receive it.

They did not have our car available at the time we had scheduled and said it would be 3 hours or more and they couldn’t guarantee it. I had to rent from another vendor at the airport at an inflated day of price and still have not received a refund from dollar for the car they didn’t provide me.

Flew 10 hours Rome to JFK arrived at 1145 p.m. Was notified by txt that my next flight in the A.M. to JAX was canceled. So decided to drive to JAX the next day instead and rented a car at 0031 a.m. from Dollar which was confirmed online for a 0800 with pick up at JFK facility. Got there to Dollar and the agent said my reservation was no good so no car; and the reason was that the booking was made the same day. I mean come on. Really poor show Dollar: but the good news is Avis next door took me as a walk up. So, guess who I will use in the future. Promise not to bad mouth Dollar too much with my friends who travel.

The staff was very pleasant and professional. The rental experience was very smooth for me. The vehicle was clean and mechanically sound. Side Note: In the U.S. a valid DRIVER'S LICENSE is required. Please don't argue with the staff when proper documentation is not available. Learner's Permits are not permissible. International visitors will also need a passport that coincides with the country of licensing. What I didn't like.... The engineering of the vehicle. Comfort.....meh Steering.....tight/not sloppy/not smooth Switches......way too many. On the dash, Under the dash, On the console. Seat controls......too close together for small hands. Safety features......excellent The vehicle had a fuel economy feature that turns the engine off when stopped at a traffic light. It's very harsh re-engagement when you remove your foot from the brake. The steering wheel has a very sharp/harsh control ratio and lacks the smooth comfort control factor that most vehicles in the compact SUV class has. I've made a mental note to choose something different the next time I rent a vehicle from Alamo.
