We needed to change return location from TX to CA and they wanted to change our $500 rental to be $1500!! I told them that was a ripoff and that I would return our car and solicit a new rental. He agreed that would be cheaper but he couldn’t do new reservations. So I had to make a separate call to do this TX to CA reservation, which came to $438 instead!! Seems like a Not user-friendly way to do business!

This is the 2nd time renting from Dollar. I used a debit card and was prepared to need a deposit for my rental. The first rental I reserved in Houston, TX was a midsize SUV. I was not told they would run a credit check at the counter. The deposit was $500. Everything else was fine. The 2nd rental was in Dallas, TX and I reserved a SUV again. They ran a credit check again, charged a $500 deposit and informed me I could not rent a SUV because I was using a debit card. This was not disclosed when I reserved the car. I was only allowed to rent a damaged full size car. Just weird. Also I opted for the toll tag which did not work at the airport. Dollar is not worth the hassle.

Verbal declined every add-on, including LDW, but they charged me for it when I returned the car. I have my own full insurance and never accept LWD or any other coverage. The LDW charge was more than the actual rental. This is an absolute scam and probably a deceptive trade practice.
