Best things to do and see in Costa Rica

From where can you fly directly into Costa Rica?

Some of the well-known U.S. locations from which you may fly directly to Costa Rica include Boston, New York, Dulles, District of Columbia, and Baltimore. Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) serves as the final destination for all of these direct flights. Three major airports serve as the points of departure for direct flights from the U.S. to Costa Rica: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), in Washington, DC; Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI), in Baltimore, Maryland; and Dulles International Airport (IAD), in Dulles, Virginia. If you reside in Virginia or one of its adjacent states, you must connect at Dulles before boarding your direct flight to Costa Rica from IAD. BWI is the ideal departure airport for people in Baltimore, Maryland, and nearby locations who want to travel directly to Costa Rica. You will be connecting at DCA from Washington, DC, and nearby cities in order to catch your direct flight to Costa Rica. Because IAD has the most daily direct flights to Costa Rica, choosing to depart from this airport has a number of advantages, the most important of which is increased reliability in finding a flight that works with your schedule. The most frequent airlines offering daily flights from different U.S. locations to Costa Rica are Avianca and American Airlines. British Airlines and JetBlue are two airlines that provide a variety of Costa Rica flight deals, with all of them landing at SJO if you are connecting from DCA or BWI. A sizable number of direct flights to Costa Rica also leave from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), in addition to DCA, BWI, and IAD. If you wish to take a nonstop flight from JFK or BOS to Costa Rica, you may count on booking with American Airlines, Alaska, and Avianca, among other airlines.

How do you get to the downtown from Costa Rica airport?

Three popular transport options are available for you if you are getting out of Costa Rica airport. The most cost-effective and reliable option is the Tuasa Bus. Every day of the week, from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., these buses provide nonstop service between Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) and San Jose city center. These bus services are available at the airport every 6 to 12 minutes. An average bus ride from SJO to the city center takes roughly 30 minutes. The second most popular mode of transportation for those leaving Juan Santamaria International Airport in Costa Rica is a taxi. The parking area, which is on the left end of the arrivals hall at SJO, is where you may find cabs. Taxis travel from the airport to the city center in roughly 20 minutes, which is faster than buses. Lastly, using rental cars will provide you with more freedom to leave the airport. You may easily rent a car inside the airport at Counters 5 or 6, which are located on the ground floor.

What passport or visa requirements are there when visiting Costa Rica?

U.S. citizens flying to Costa Rica for tourism, business, or any other personal reasons from any city in the U.S. are not required to have visas to get into Costa Rica. However, they are required to have valid passports and return tickets indicating that they will be exiting Costa Rica within a period not exceeding three months, or proof of their intention to connect to another country from Costa Rica.
