Momondo is a World class travel site with a fine collection of FREE services that helps you plan your next travel. We come recommended by the fine people at New York Times, CNN, CBS, Daily Telegraph, Frommers and many more.
We’re not a travel agency, we’re not an airline, we’re not a booking-portal and we don't sell flight tickets.
We just search fares across the web - exactly as you do when hunting your next flight. The only difference is that our robots search hundreds of sites simultaneously to give you an overview within seconds.
Background
Momondo is a Danish initiative founded by experienced people from the
travel industry and skilled programmers with a passion for new
technology, travelling the world and meeting new people.
Our site was launched in September 2006 as a flight search engine
only. We were small and unknown but knew that we had a unique technology
that could bring people to all the globe’s buzzing metropoles and great
little places - at low costs.
Today we have introduced our city guides, become multilingual plus
added hotel and car rental search on the site. Many dedicated
developers and travel afficionados have joined us and are doing an
outstanding job in achieving our goal.
Though we’ve been around a few years now, our love for travelling and
meeting new people is everything but declining. The better we get to
know our users and all the colourful places they share with each other
on our site the more fun we have and the more passionate we get.

Each colour helps us to identify with the related ambience and get us in the mood – by colouring places in our guide we help you navigate by your mood and discover great coloured places - shared by fellow citizens.
Select a city and your colour. If you’ve decided on hot-pink, a map of clubs, restaurants, shops and hotels will appear which invite the vibrant and trendy side of you to join the party. Maybe you’re in the mood for a little romance with your special someone, then navigate to the cosy red. Travelling with kids? Shades of green would be your choice.

Why use Momondo?
We’re small, unbiased and we do the widest search and price comparison. Our vision is to give our users total price transparency without any catches.
We find and compare prices from +700 websites. To our knowledge Momondo is the search engine with the most complete coverage and we are constantly adding new routes and airlines to our searches.
But how do we do it? Well, unlike most other travel search engines we don’t rely on a few airline-fare-databases that are dependent on others supplying them with information. In our opinion these databases are incomplete as they don’t contain enough fares and airlines. That’s why we have developed our own technology.
We’ve build more than 700 ‘robots’ or ‘crawlers’. Each robot is uniquely built to perform a search on a specific site - just like a person would do it. The robots arrange the information they collect and return it to Momondo.
This gives us a huge advantage because we can include the big international airlines as well as the small local suppliers who often aren’t in the databases used by others. Feedback from our users becomes even more useful as we can include the suppliers you suggest. Because our technology is built in-house we are more independent and we can easily adjust and increase our searches.
That’s how we do it and that’s how you actually search for the best offers on hundreds of sites with one single search on Momondo.
Our programmers are doing a great job
Travel Search Engines are hard to build as their web-crawlers need to fill in information (say destination, departure dates etc) in order to access information (timetables and prices). Furthermore the crawlers need to understand the information in the same manner as humans in order to sort and transform them into compiled result-sets.
To our knowledge Momondo has the most complete coverage of low-cost airlines in Europe. Our programmers are eating lollipops all day long but they are also are doing a great job: Programming a bunch of robots that send trip-requests to airlines and agencies and grab the prices in order to present them for easy price comparison.

It's a jungle, so where to book your travel
You can book your flight ticket directly on an airline-website or you can book your ticket on one of the many travel agencies or booking sites on the Web.
Momondo searches across them all - travel agency sites, national carriers and low-cost airlines to present a consolidated view of the market place.
Sometimes it’s best to book your flight directly from the airline; at other times you may get the cheapest fare via an online travel agency - as they purchase in large volumes.
However travel agencies typically only offer flight tickets from national carriers and not from low-cost airlines.
This makes it time-consuming and difficult for consumers to track down the best fares – searching around on airline and travel agency sites.
Use Momondo to search and compare fares across travel agency sites, national carriers and low-cost airlines. We do not sell flight tickets – we just show you where to get the best deals and link you to the booking site - for you to place your booking directly at the supplier at no extra cost.
