Stuttgart is most associated with cars and wine, two things which can leave anyone feeling a little light headed and happy. The city’s ongoing love affair with cars can be seen everywhere: in most European cities, you might expect to find towering church spires piercing the skyline, but in Stuttgart you will find Mercedes Benz logos lighting the night sky instead. There are, however, also many historic sights to see in the city. The Altes Schloss is one such sight. It used to be a moated castle, before it was deemed an unfit residence for the Duke. Unlike most German cities, Stuttgart is spread across many hills and wine lands. This gives it a certain ‘raised’ difference. The city also boasts an impressive array of festivals throughout the year.
Neues Schloss – ‘new castle’ – was commissioned by a 16-year-old. It has exactly 365 rooms. One for each day, perhaps?
