A few years ago, Catherine Sanderson was already one of the city's most well-known expatriate bloggers. Her site Petite Anglaise had a loyal following of 4,000 visitors who arrived daily to hear the British secretary's stories about Paris, her French lover "Mr. Frog," and their bilingual daughter "tadpole." Then in April 2006, Sanderson's world turned upside down. Her employer, a posh British accountancy firm, discovered her blog and immediately fired her. Read more…

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. I guess the old adage got through to me right away, for almost just as soon as I started living here I went out and bought myself a 50 cc motorino. It was a bright green Peugeot Motobecane, a brand that no longer exists

In Rua Anchieta there is a very special place called A Vida Portuguesa: The Portuguese Life. At first, it seems that the dark 19th century shelves are filled with faux old-style packages, facsimiles of vintage products from Portugal. On closer inspection, though, they are the real things

Cool and cosy hotels

The northeastern side of Paris is unknown to most visitors. Far from the center and not packed with 'must-see' monuments, this area is doesn't make it onto many agendas. That's a shame, because the 19th arrondissement is filled with lovely things.

Open since 1991, the East Village Bed & Coffee is now one of the area's old-timers, but it's still easy to walk past this guesthouse without even knowing what it is. Hi travel friend

3448 kilometers – or 2142 miles, to be accurate. That’s the distance between Moscow and Madrid. Two cities in the outskirts of Europe, and yet more hip, dynamic and fast moving than most central European capitals.

Madrid has, like the rest of Spain, witnessed an economic miracle these last years, and the whole city is bubbling with optimism, architectural and cultural creativity.

Moscow, at the same time, is booming like no other place in the world. Ten years ago it was a short land for social and economic chaos, Today it’s named by the New York Times as the world’s #1 luxury destination - the most expensive city in the world and home to the largest number of billionaires.

At momondo we follow the hype. From now on these two cities will be among our new favorite destinations. We’ll tell you about the newest trends in tapas, and lifestyle journalist Masha Mozolevskaya will report to you from Moscow, where she is always on the hunt for new places, from glamorous shops to a good retro-Soviet meal. So don’t say we’re not multicultural at momondo. To us diversity and curiosity are core parts of our business. The reason we are here, you could say. Connecting people – and cultures.
