Nightlife in London

ENTERTAINTMENT

London’s theatre scene is probably the best in the world. Big-budget musicals and star-studded plays are staged in the West End; the National Theatre, and the Old Vic, in Southwark stage the city’s big-hitting artistic productions. The Globe Theatre offers an authentic Shakespearean experience during the summer (including the opportunity for audience members to stand for the duration of the play). It’s also worth checking out comedy clubs – the British love stand-up comedy, and these clubs are where many writers and actors who’ve gone on to be internationally known get their start.

Of course, the London music scene is also famous for its vibrancy – from classical to R&B, there’s something to cater to every musical taste, every night. Check out Time Out for an up-to-date guide, or – if you’re in town on a Saturday – the Guardian newspaper’s Guide, which also has excellent listings and recommendations.
