Eating in London

British food has long been famous for being terrible, and if you stick to places designed to attract tourists, you’ll probably agree. But ‘foodie’ culture has swept the nation over the last decade or so, and if you avoid eating in restaurants that cater to tourists (hint: if they have photos of the food on the menu, it’s probably not good) you’ll find that there’s an array of delicious options. Borough Market, open on Fridays and Saturdays, is arguably the heart of great British food culture; great British classics can also be found in many gastro pubs (try to avoid the chains, however). International cuisines are also very popular: try Kingsland Road for Vietnamese, Brick Lane for curry, Brixton for Caribbean food and Soho for Chinese and Japanese.
