Where entertainment is concerned, Amsterdam offers a wide range of cultural activities. When not on tour, the Concertgebouw orchestra, one of the best symphonic orchestras in the world, performs in the magnificent concert hall. The city’s opera, renowned for its modern approach to a traditional art form, shares the stage of the Muziekgebouw with the Dutch National Ballet. In addition, the very modern Muziekgebouw aan het Ij, dedicated to every sort of music and the Bimhuis, which focuses on Jazz, are located in the same building, a special destination in itself.  Amsterdam’s major and minor stages also offer a variety of spectacles every evening. Throughout the year the city sponsors a variety of cultural events and festivals.
