The route will be operated one-a-week, while the route from Billund will continue with its two weekly services.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;From the start of the summer schedule &lt;strong&gt;British Airways&lt;/strong&gt; will cancel two of their routes to the East. The routes which will cease operating from March 29 2009 are from London Heathrow to Calcutta in India and Dhaka in Bangladesh. They will also half the number of services operating to Tokyo from two to one on a daily basis.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Eastern Airways&lt;/strong&gt; will from November 28 stop operating their thrice daily operation between London Stansted and Manchester. &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;SkyEurope&lt;/strong&gt; has extended its &amp;ldquo;Big Winter Sale&amp;rdquo; with fares available from &amp;pound; 19. The closure, set for January 11 2009 for the Detroit route and January 8 2009 for the Seattle route, will come less than a year after the route opened. The closure of this route also marks the 16th route which has stopped operating since fall, representing about 10 per cent off all capacity operating between the two continents. The other airlines having closed routes are Aer Lingus, Air Canada, American Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Continental, Delta and United Airlines. However, Northwest&amp;rsquo;s new partner, Delta, will continue operating the route between London Heathrow and Detroit.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Jet2.com&lt;/strong&gt; has announced that they will launch a new flight from their base at Manchester Airport to Heraklion in Greece. The Indian carrier is attempting to reduce cost, and focus on the more profitable routes.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Air Canada&lt;/strong&gt; will from the first day of June 2009 begin operating a new route between Toronto and Geneva, via Montreal. The service will be operated twice daily both from Canada and from Switzerland.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;United Airlines&lt;/strong&gt; has announced that they will reinstate the service between Denver and London. The route is set to begin operating again on March 29, and since it is a seasonal route it will only operated till the end of October.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Wizz Air&lt;/strong&gt; will from January 5 2009 begin operating a new route between the Norwegian and Ukrainian capitals. Book by 10 pm (GMT) on November 18.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Due to a lack of demand, &lt;strong&gt;Flyglobespan&lt;/strong&gt; has felt obligated to cut a route between Aberdeen Airport and Sharm El Sheikh before the route was launched. The route was set to start on December 17, and marks the third route Flyglobespan cuts from Aberdeen during the past three months. The other two routes were to Barcelona and Lanzarote.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Delta Air Lines&lt;/strong&gt; has announced its plan to start a route to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The route is set to be launched on June 1, 2009, and will fly daily services to the largest city in Vietnam via Tokyo.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Cimber Air&lt;/strong&gt; is intending to fight back at the airlines SAS and Norwegian. SAS has cut its online booking fee from DKK 75 to DKK 50, while Norwegian doesn&amp;rsquo;t charge any fee for booking online. In addition they will launch a new route between Amsterdam and Liverpool, operating thrice daily, from next summer.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Emirates&lt;/strong&gt; will from next month launch a new route between London and Dubai. The flight will be operated from Heathrow Airport, operating in the huge Airbus A380 aircraft. The service will be operated daily.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;It has been announced that &lt;strong&gt;Lufthansa&lt;/strong&gt; will take over &lt;strong&gt;Austrian Airlines&lt;/strong&gt;, meaning that both the Air France-KLM and Russian S7 groups are out of the running. Lufthansa, which also are set to buy Brussels Airlines, are set to take over before the end of the year. Travel between November 18 and December 17, and again from December 24 to March 22, 2009. Flights to Berlin Tegel will be operated twice daily in weekdays and daily on the weekends, while the flight to Palma de Mallorca will be operated daily all week long. To D&amp;uuml;sseldorf there will be three daily flights on weekdays, and daily services in the weekend.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;easyJet&lt;/strong&gt; has announced a summer sale for 2009. Flights from the airline&amp;rsquo;s base at East Midlands Airport are available from just &amp;pound; 22.99 (ca. &amp;euro; 28) one-way and &amp;pound; 44.78 (ca. &amp;euro; 55) for returns, both including taxes. Destinations include sunny destinations as Ibiza, Alicante and Malaga. Book as soon as possible in order to benefit from the cheapest fares.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Ryanair&lt;/strong&gt; has announced that they will launch 11 new routes from its base at Edinburgh Airport, but the destinations have not been announced yet. What they have told us is that they will base two Boeing 737-800 aircrafts at the airline&amp;rsquo;s home base. Four of the routes have been announced to fly to ski destinations Grenoble and Turin, and Italian destinations Cagliari and Bologna.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Delta Air Lines&lt;/strong&gt; will introduce fees for checked bags on domestic flights. Last week, British Airways announced that they were closing its only route to the US, operating from outside of London. Now, &lt;strong&gt;British Midland&lt;/strong&gt; has announced that they will close all of its routes between Manchester and the US and Caribbean. The entire fleet of 27 aircrafts has been grounded. After negotiations with several potential investors broke down late Tuesday night, the airline has no other option than to turn the key. Sterling Airlines was founded in 1962, is the third European airline to fold after the recent collapse of XL Airways and Zoom Airlines.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Norwegian&lt;/strong&gt; has launched 11 new routes from its new base at Copenhagen Airport. Sterling was operating 40 routes from the airport, and Norwegian will so far operate 11 of them. From November 6 routes will fly to Aalborg, Alicante, Malaga, Nice, Oslo and Stockholm. Routes to Oslo, Stockholm and Aalborg will be operated daily, while the rest will be operated 2-3 times weekly.
