Ryanair had barely started to operate on the Skavsta (Sweden) to Dusseldorf route, before it has announced that it will close it down at the end of August. At the same time RyanAir has announced it will open a new route from Skavsta starting in March next year, without yet announcing what the destination will be.
In other RyanAir news, they have announced three new routes from Oporto. Starting October 29th, they will begin flying from Oporto to Faro, Karlsruhe-Baden and Dusseldorf Weeze. Oporto to Faro will be there first ever domestic route in Portugal. Oporto to Faro will operate Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday; to Karlsruhe-Baden on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday and to Dusseldorf (Weeze) on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Dusseldorf is in the news today, gaining another new route from Basel operated by EasyJet and starting November 2nd. The flight will operate twice daily with early morning (7am) departures and early evening (19:35) departures from Basel.
As part of its fight against massive losses, British Airways has increased its fares by up to £40 per return flight on long-haul routes for Business Class passengers and an extra £20 for Economy-Class Premium Economy class flyers. The increased fees will apply to flights from the UK to the US, Canada and South America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, the Far East and Japan.
