Qatar Airways will launch new connecting flights from the capital of Qatar, Doha, to the Seychelles. Flights are offered from London Heathrow and Gatwick as well as Manchester Airport. The connections will run during the Christmas and New Year period.

Flybe will close down its base at Norwich Airport from March 2009. They are set to close their route to Dublin, and move the flight operating the service between Norwich and Edinburgh to their base at Edinburgh aiport.

easyJet will launch several new route from its base at London Gatwick. From March 31 the airline will begin operating a thrice weekly route to Larnaca. On May 1, they will launch daily flights to Naples as well as a four times weekly service to Dubrovnik, and lastly, on May 3, a route to Santorini will begin running three times a week. Fares are available from £ 30.99 (ca. € 33).

Delta Air Lines has announced its plan to launch a flight connecting Detroit and Rome. Starting June 4, the route will operate to Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, with one-way tickets available from $ 699 (ca. € 484), exclusive of taxes and fees, if you book before December 24.

Lufthansa is offering an economy class sale with fares available to big European cities. Return fares are available from £ 148 (ca. € 169) to destinations as Athens, Rome and Moscow. Travel from December 22, 2008 to September 20, 2009. Book by January 1, 2009.

Spanish airline Clickair will begin operating a new route between their base at Barcelona Airport and Paris Orly. The route will be operated in the next summer period, starting in March 2009.

easyJet will launch four new routes from London Gatwick. From March 2009, the airline will begin operating flights to Larnaca, Cyprus, and from May 2009 new flights to Santorini in Greece, Naples in Italy and Dubrovnik in Croatia.

Norwegian will launch a new route between its new base at Copenhagen Airport and London Gatwick. The route will be operated twice daily from March 29, 2009. Fares are available from DKK 299, including taxes and charges.

JetBlue is following the announcement by Virgin America earlier this week, and will launch a new route between Boston and San Francisco. The route is said be announced daily from May 1, 2009. In other news, the airline will launch a new flight to San Jose in Costa Rica. The route will be launched on March 26, 2009 with daily services.

Ryanair has announced that they from February 5, 2009 launch a new route between Malta and Trapani.

Virgin Atlantic has announced that they will increase frequency on some of its routes to the Caribbean Islands and the US in 2009. The route between Manchester Airports and Barbados will increase to two weekly flights between May 2 and November 7 2009, while the route between London Gatwick Airport and Montego Bay, Jamaica, will get an extra weekly flight between November 13, 2009 and March 19, 2010. Also, the route between Manchester and Orlando will see an extra weekly flight, operating on Sundays between April 26 and November 5, 2009.

easyJet has announced a new route to Nice. From April 2, 2009, the British airline will begin operating a thrice weekly service from its base at East Midlands Airport.

Helvetic will launch a new route to Italian destination Olbia next summer. The route will be operated from the airline’s base at Zurich Airport, with weekly services starting from April 11, 2009.

Aer Arann has announced that they from January 2009 will begin a new route between Dublin Airport and Blackpool International Airport. The route will run from January 5, from just £ 34 (ca. € 39), one-way including taxes and charges.

Emirates has launched a sale on routes to Africa and Asia from the UK. Economy class return flights are on sale from £ 400 (ca. € 457) including taxes and charges. Destinations include Johannesburg, Nairobi, Beijing amongst others. Travel between January 10 and March 31, 2009. Book by December 17.

bmibaby will operate a route between its base at East Midlands Airport and Spanish island Menorca the upcoming summer. Fares are available from £ 41.99 (ca. € 48) including taxes and charges. The service will run from May 22 until October 24, 2009, on a three times weekly basis.

Virgin America will launch two new routes from Boston Logan International Airport. From February 12, 2009 the airline will launch two daily flights to San Francisco as well as three daily flights to Los Angeles. Fares are available from $ 149 (ca. € 115) one-way.

Wizz Air has announced that they will move the two flights they operate to Girona to Barcelona from mid January 2009. This will affect flights operating from Katowice and Sofia.
