Ryanair has announced that they will stop operating all flights from Blackpool Airport. From the New Year, the airport has announced that a £ 10 airport development fee will be introduced to all passengers over 16 years old, in order to pay for upgrades to runways, taxi-stops and the apron.
Air Asia X will launch a new route between London Stansted and Kuala Lumpur. The route is set to debut in March 2009, with five weekly flights. The Malaysian low-cost airline will be offering seats from £ 99 (ca. € 118) one-way.
Qantas is offering a selection of reduced fares to the Asia Pacific. Fly Economy Class from London Heathrow to destinations including Hong Kong, Singapore and Sydney. Travel periods vary from destination to destination. Returns are available from £ 442 (ca. € 527). Book by November 30.
Due to a lack of demand, bmibaby will stop operating five out of their 21 routes from its base at Birmingham International Airport. Routes to Bordeaux, Lisbon, Madrid, Milan and Rome will be suspended between March 29 and October 24, 2009.
U.S. Airways has announced that they will launch a new route, starting in January 2009, between Akron-Canton Airport in Ohio and the Washington D.C. Ronald Reagan National Airport.
