British Airways will add a fourth daily service on its route between London Heathrow and Dubai. From January 2, the British airline will operate the additional daily service five days of the week.
Northwest will close down its routes from London Heathrow to Detroit and Seattle. The closure, set for January 11 2009 for the Detroit route and January 8 2009 for the Seattle route, will come less than a year after the route opened. The closure of this route also marks the 16th route which has stopped operating since fall, representing about 10 per cent off all capacity operating between the two continents. The other airlines having closed routes are Aer Lingus, Air Canada, American Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Continental, Delta and United Airlines. However, Northwest’s new partner, Delta, will continue operating the route between London Heathrow and Detroit.
Jet2.com has announced that they will launch a new flight from their base at Manchester Airport to Heraklion in Greece. The route will be launched on May 18, 2009.
Emirates has launched an Economy class sale with offers to many destinations from London Heathrow. Outbound travel must commence between April 16 and June 30, 2009. Destinations include Auckland, Mumbai and Sydney. Return flights are available from £ 486 (ca. € 576). Book by November 30.
