Cutdowns from several airlines.

en by Travel News  /  Thomas Bloom, 22. Sep 2008

After the collapse of XL Airways, easyJet has added three flights to Spain and Turkey trying to fill the void. They are operated extra services from Gatwick to Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Dalarman in Turkey.

Jet2.com will launch three new routes from Edinburgh Airport in the summer of 2009. Launching on May 21, the new routes will operate from the Scottish capital to Ibiza, Menorca and Venice.

BMI and its subsidiary bmibaby are cutting down on routes in the coming winter season. From October 4, BMI will downgrade the plane size on the route between Durham Tees Valley and London Heathrow, while bmibaby will completely stop the route between Cardiff and Barcelona.

Aer Lingus will once again close down the route between Dublin and Copenhagen. The airline had been operating the route since October 27 last year, but is now closing down the route just as they did in 2006. SAS are now operating the route, as the only airline, on a two times a day basis.
