Copenhagen to Prague cut by two airlines.

en by Travel News  /  Thomas Bloom, 10. Jul 2008

Overcapacity on the route between Copenhagen and Prague means that we will see a closure of the route from both Cimber Air and SAS. Cimber Air will already close down on August 11, while SAS will operate until October 25. In addition to the Prague route, Cimber Air will also cut down on three other international routes. Billund to Bergen will now have two weekly flights instead of six, Billund to Bergen four weekly services instead of five, and Billund to Stavanger will be cut down from four to two weekly services.

Egyptair has been announced as the 21st official member of Star Alliance, adding 1.624 weekly flights and 69 destinations primarily in the Middle East and Africa. As part of the process there will be built a new terminal at Cairo Airport Authority dedicated to Star Alliance members.

Air India has also been approved as a future member. After operating a route between Billund and Riga with success, Air Baltic have decided to continue operating the route throughout the upcoming winter season, even though it was first thought of as a summer route.

US Airways have decided to stop showing movies on their domestic flights. From November 1, the airline will save around 10 million dollars yearly on fuel, caused by the video system weighting around 250 kg. US Airways will still show movies on flights to Hawaii.
